Guys,
First off, I am a newbie to Android and VZ. I currently have a Drioid Charge and Im OK with it. I just signed on for VZ service about 10 days ago and still have 3 days to return the phone.
What I really want is a Galaxy 2 which might come to VZ sometime later this year but since I just signed a contract, I will have to pay full retail for it.

Now, I am being offered a 3 month old thunderbolt with and extended battery for 270. If I buy that phone and return my Charge to VZ, will I be able to reset my my upgrade and get a discount on the Galaxy S2 when it comes out?
I work out a lot, so I don't have access to electric outlets for 6-7 hours at times. Will the thunderbolt work for me?

From your experience, can you please tell me the pros and cons of this whole exercise?

Thanks a lot guys :)

You should be able to do what you want including reseting all your dates to what they were previously, inside the 14 day window. Check with VZW to verify.

With the extended battery you should easily last through work.

Did the seller throw away the original stock battery or is that included as well? I can easily burn through my 3 standard batteries in a day.

I've had the extended battery on my phone since day one and with it you can pretty much run the phone non-stop and it'll last all day. I've watched a 2+ hour long movie on mine and it only used up 10-15% of my extended battery. On light use I can go 3 days without recharging it.

Not sure if verizon will let you just turn your phone in and reset everything. I've never tried that.

The TBolt rocks especially paired with extended battery. The reboot issue fix also improved my LTE performance. 14+ hours and i still had just over 50% left. That was light to moderate use while I was at King's Island amusement park. Needed something to do while waiting in the lines. I should have turned off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios to make up for running screen at full brightness. Before the fix I would have been under 30% for the same amount time (with extra radios off).

Good question... Im not sure if the stock comes with it or not.... Ill find out and update you guys...

Thanks for all the good info guys... I confirmed with VZ... they will reset everything.... Im gonna call the dude tomorrow morning and see if he is willing to deal...

FWIW, if you're using 3G or Wifi*, even a standard battery will DEFINITELY last 6-7 hours unless you're really using the hell out of it. If you leave it on 4G LTE, you should probably still be fine, but again, if you use the phone a lot, that may be pushing it on a standard battery after 6-7 hours.

I was working at a construction site yesterday with no access to power outlets, started the day at 7AM w/ a full charge on 3G, and when we finally left the site at 1AM (it was a LONG day, ~18 hours), my battery was at 57%...using a standard battery. You should be fine.

I don't have an extended battery...but it goes without saying that it will obviously help.

*Assuming you have a good signal and the phone is set to "CDMA auto (prl)"

U can make through a whole day on 4g as long as you don't use it a whole lot

Sting23ray - Also, as I see people suggest. You should meet the guy at a Verizon store to let a tech make sure there isn't any owed money on the sim/account or they won't let you activate it or something like that.

And so you know, you are buying out of warranty. The one year manufacture warranty is for the original purchase only, so you may want to get the tech to look the phone over if they will.

Maybe someone else with more experience will chime in on this.
