Let me try this again...
I had/have a Samsung Galaxy Ring. Model: SPH-M840, Android:4.1.2, Baseband: M840VPAME3, Kernel: 3.4.0-1214557, se-infra@SEP-85#1
Build: JZ054K-M840VPAME3
Rooted. No issues. Bloatware removal, etc.
A few weeks after root, memory was suddenly more than half full, using data like crazy & *#*#codes#*#* are disabled.
Several factory resets later I give up & get a new phone.
The Boost Mobile Galaxy Prevail 2: Out of the box the specs were: Model:SPH-M840, Android: 4.1.2, Baseband:M840VPAMH, Kernel: 3.4.0-1382747, se-infra@SEI-43#1 Build: JZ054K-M840PAMH5
I didn't root it or use any programs or accounts from before. New email address, everything. I didn't log in to ANYTHING I'd used before.
I even used cash to buy it. I wrote down everything possible about the system before even starting up the service!
A few days after getting it and update that I DID NOT approve was pushed through while I was asleep. It said it was an update to the
M840PAMH5.
After the installation the only thing the same is the IMEI, my IP address had been changed from 68.20.0.0.to 21.60.0.0., the MSID
and even the carrier URL's are different. where they were all @myboostmobile before, they are now @www.android.com/.
The Current specs after two resets and another Forced "Update", my specs are as follows, Model:SPH-M840, Linux: 3.4.0-1382747 Baseband: ?? Kernel: se.infra@SEI-43 (gee version 4.6.x-google 20120106 (prerelease) (GCC)) #1 PREEMPT, it also has all this new stuff about a java virtual machine, I Didn't do that!!! It says: java.vm.specification.name
alvik Virtual Machine Specification, java.vm.version:1.6.0, there's a lot more about that, if you want those details, let me know and I'll post a screenshot for you.
I have rooted, un-rooted, updated, downgraded, side-loaded, backdoor-ed and flashed several ROMS & recoveries in several ways, only to find out that they are locked. They've been made "permanent" It can't be done!!
Please? Anyone?? HELP???
Thanx Again, hope this clears something up......?
