Please help!! (new at this) Unlocking Galaxy S5 - GCI Network Provider

Hello AndriodCentral Community,

Thank you for taking the time to look at my question. As mentioned in above title. I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 which I would like to unlock. It was used in Alaska under the GCI Wireless Network.

As far as I know, I have to unlock the bootloader for the phone for it be accessible by other network providers. Instructions on how to do so would be helpful. Thank you for the consideration!

The phone is currently running Kitkat Andriod 4.4.2

Why does the bootloader need to be unlocked? Are you sure it doesn't just need to be SIM unlocked?
