Please Help - No network internet connectivity

So I dropped AT&T for the Incredible and my number successfully ported over, but I cannot connect to the Internet. I can make/receive calls and SMS, but no Internet besides wifi. I've been on with vzw support and went through reactivating the phone (*228) and a couple hard reset to no avail. They said it could have something to do with porting from AT&T, but I'm not understanding that connection. I don't have too much faith in support figuring out so I'm trying the forums. Does anyone have a clue how to resolve this or is it a defect with the phone.

Some details:

there is no 3G symbol near the signal status bars.

Settings/Wireless & networks: shows "Mobile Network" with a green check, buts its grayed out so no action can be taken on it. Directly underneath "Mobile Network" it says "Turning on..." and it seems to flash that status every once in a while.

those are the correct places that you would need to have turned out. i assume you have turn the phone off and on to try and correct?

Mine was like this all day yesterday form about 10am till 5pm. I had to call customer care twice to get it fixed. They said they were having an issue with their data services and had to force active my data connection. Once they did that it took about 30 minutes to work. I am also a new customer coming from T-mobile.
 
I posted the same problem here.

I am waiting to figure out a solution from tech support.

Well I'm sort of happy that this just isn't a one-off occurrence... Please keep me updated if you're able to figure this out and I'll do the same.
 
OK, mine is working now. I'm not sure if it was tech support looking into the problem or if it just took a day to enable data for a new customer.

Either way, when I turned off wifi today, the 3G icon popped up on the top toolbar and it started using that.

Had this same problem this week. Called VZW, they had me pull the battery while they reset my data services or something, then had me call *228 to reprogram. After, all is well...
 
I have the same issue. I figured it was due to the poor signal reception folks are complaining about. I get voice all day but the the 3g comes and goes. I have done the *228 a few times. I usually just cycle the phone. New issue is that friendstream does not work and it appears to be an issue with twitter.
