Does anyone know if there is a podcast player/manager for tizen? I can't believe that nothing has been developed after all this time...

Likewise. I think Tizen is an open platform. Couldn't Google at least develop a Tizen version of Google Play? This is most inconvenient for those of us who use something other than Spotify.

I picked mine up at Best Buy on Friday. Yes, you can control whatever app is currently playing content. For instance I was just controlling Pocket Casts to test it out. Works great

Right, but that requires bluetooth connectivity. What I'm wondering is if there are podcast services besides Spotify that are supported.

But say I want to go running without my phone. In that instance I need a podcast manager on the watch itself

Yeah I have been struggling with this. The Best I can't do is download podcast from computer, put on phone and transfer to watch.
Spotify will not let you download directly to watch and I have not found a podcast manager. This feature alone will have Me buy a watch. I run/workout outside as well...

Right. Also today I tried downloading the Spotify phone and watch apps, and apparently unless you are a premium subscriber the watch app won't let you do anything besides control Spotify on your phone using your watch (i.e. using your watch as a remote). Kind of lame that Googe chooses not to develop a Galaxy Watch app. Almost makes me want to switch to Spotify...almost.

I can offer a somewhat less laborious workaround. I use Pocket Casts (Android) as my podcasts app, and I have found that if you simply copy a podcast file from the Pocket Casts folder where all the podcasts files are stored (and you can freely configure which folder it's going to be) to anywhere else on the phone (doesn't matter where), this (meaningless) copying operation will "wake up" the Galaxy Wearable app, it will then notice the podcast file and sync it to the watch automatically. It's still a manual workaround, and it's annoying, but at least everything can be accomplished on the phone within a few seconds.

And, yeah, it's embarrassing (for Samsung) that there's still no native Tizen app for podcasts in 2018. I have written a bit more on this subject on Reddit:

On use the pocketcasts workaround. You can put any MP3 file on the watch. If I'm doing a long run, I'll transfer a podcast over. It's actually not difficult.

With my apple watch, I was almost impossible. You needed a very difficult to use 3rd party app. And they still don't have podcasts on their watch

Apple is hopeless, of course, which is why I ditched the iPhone a year ago after 7 years, and switched to Note 8. If there's any unreasonable limitation to be implemented, you can count on Apple to implement it. It's been getting steadily worse and worse with every iOS version.

Really? That's kinda even more embarrassing than there being no podcasts app on Tizen, given that iOS/watchOS are entirely Apple's platforms.

It's not difficult by any means, but it's still annoying to have to perform such manual tasks on a €330 wearable device.

By the way, I wrote to Pocket Casts tech support, asking them if something couldn't be done about this. You know, we're like two inches from the goal-line here. If all that you need to do for the watch to notice a newly downloaded podcast file is to copy it (needlessly) to any folder on the phone, couldn't Pocket Casts perform that needless copying operation automatically on its own, as an exclusive feature for Samsung watch owners? Of course it could... There could be an optional setting for that in Pocket Casts. We shall see if I get a reply from them on this.

(Plus, I, of course, suggested – not for the first time – for them to develop a Pocket Casts version for Tizen, but the chances for that are slim, I'm afraid. But it's a *huge* market niche, if you ask me, because the interest in a podcasts app among watch owners is definitely there.)
