I've always been an iPhone guy and I listen to many podcasts that I download directly to my iPhone via the podcast app.

Is there any sort of way to download podcasts from iTunes directly to the Nexus 4? (without the need of cables)

I use BeyondPod. You can take the podcast URL from iTunes and enter it into BeyondPod. With the free version new episodes don't automatically download and you can't download more than one at a time or setup a download queue. The program also stores what podcasts were listened to and where you left off in the episode. I don't know if there is a better program but this is one I use.

Anyone use a podcast app that has the ability to speed up playback?

I'm coming from a Blackberry where I would download the podcasts on my PC, run them through a script to create 1.6x speed versions of them, then transfer to the BB to listen. I've seen some mention online about Doggcatcher+Presto to do this, but I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with a podcast app with variable speed playback. Read some reviews about having issues when a call comes in during playback and then getting weird once the call has ended.

Edit: misread OPs post. My bad.

Never tried to sync podcasts from iTunes on Android but there are great *standalone* apps where you can get the podcast eps straight onto your N4 - the aforementioned DoggCatcher and Pocket Casts (without iTunes).

Wow thanks! That sounds better than the actual Apple podcast app! Will definitely get the paid version when I get my N4 :)
