So most of you have now got your official OTA update (#2) for your Thunderbolt. For me, I rarely had a random reboot, but its still been a welcome update with several little fixes/additions that make me a happy TB owner. Most notably I love the improved GPS performance. It seems many of you are now happy with your TB's and are eagerly awaiting Gingerbread in the coming weeks. Then there are others whose annoying reboots or other issues still remain.

With so many threads out there right now about this most recent official OTA update, I wondered what the general consensus was on the update for everyone else. Take a moment and vote and let's see...

So...how's the new official OTA update for your Thunderbolt working for you?

Still having reboot issues. Sense crashes when it wants to now. Had to install GPS fix app and that was the only way to actually get my gps to lock. It made mine worse in spots and better in others. So no change for me right now.

I just switched from a blackberry storm to the thunderbolt. This update makes me feel like I'm back on my storm. I may need to learn how to root.

If u are still having issues after the ota take it into Verizon and get it replaced.as most people's thunderbolt issues have stop after the ota. It sounds like u got a bad device

I've been reboot free since june 11th when I flashed the leaked mr2. I just can't justify flashing a new ruu and having to re-download everything for a slightly newer version that does everything my leaked one does but has a bunch more bloatware on it. I think I'll stick with my leaked version until gingerbread comes out.

Interesting results after just one day. Thanks!

I thought this would be the case but sometimes on a forum, "issues/problems" are the main topic, so its easy to get caught up in whats wrong with the device for some people and not see the big picture and realize that, for most people things are actually pretty good. There is, after all, a reason why the phone is still in high demand.

Coming from a Blackberry, the more I "learn" about Android phones and specifically what this phone can do, the more I pat myself on the back for not getting an iPhone back in March. Especially now that its running so well for me (and apparently most everyone else).

I never had the reboot problem, instead I had the 'turns off whenever it wants to' problem. Hasn't turned itself off once since the update. Keeping fingers crossed.

Did you try restarting your 'Bolt or doing a battery pull?

I've rebooted, done battery pulls, done a factory reset and replaced the SIM card. The guys at the top of the technical support ladder have a ticket for my problems and are going to take a look at it as soon as they can.

A few people are reporting this same issue but it's nothing widespread.

My TBolt has been working great since the update. The LTE seems faster, the phone is smoother, I have not had a reboot, and I'm just happy as a clam. :) Now I just need the official GB release. I have to wonder if HTC and Verizon purposely delayed the GB update to make sure this fix would address the problems the phone was having.

I'm almost positive that's the case. I don't see how they could properly test GB until this update was out.

well everything is working great except I am still getting the re boots. I guess I can live with it, hope when GB comes out that will fix the re boot forever.

working great for me....gps was a little hinky at first but seems to have corrected itself

Bump

How do you know if you got it? The only issue I have had with mine is the battery...so I guess i shouldn't even notice it?

I have more reboots after than I did before. And I hate how it prompts you when you turn the GPS on now. I had no issues with GPS before. I use tasker to turn GPS when maps turn on or navigation and it has to prompt me every time asking if it's ok that GPS is on.

You'd have to go and download it yourself as its not yet being "pushed" onto our phones yet. You do this by hitting MENU>Settings>Software Update (at the bottom of the list)>Check New. It takes a while to download and then it reboots but when it does your "status" on that "Software Update" page should say "Name: 1.70.605.0" / "Status: Update Successful." If you have trouble downloading the update check out some of the other threads in this forum that help others with their issues.
