POLL: Is USB C audio better than the Quad DAC?

Should future phone manufacturers keep the 3.5mm jack?

I think you mean an external DAC/amp... Correct?

I think in some cases they eliminate the jack to make a thinner phone. If than need to do that I think a better option is to make subminature jack and supply an adaptor so at least you can listen and charge your phone at the same time.
Verizon just disables the FM radio on most phones anyway so I'm not sure if that is part of the conspiracy.

Correct..

Verizon will hose it's customers in every way.. So that's really a given.

The chipset is built in to every soc and is needed for emergency broadcast. Internet goes down in most strong storms but unless a direct hit from earthquake or tornado fm broadcasting usually stays on..

I used to think that them gimping the phone and not enabling the radio was just a money grab on the carriers.. And it still could be for some, but with all of the spying on us from the agencies these days I believe that this is far more nefarious than just slimming the phone down... and since controlling the information is what the power groups want.. What better way to make sure that you listen to is from those who are controlling the media.. Make sure you have to stream it.

It may sound far fetched....and I am sure that most don't think like I do, but I trust these folks less than I can spit with a dry mouth...

Yes, it is far fetched. That doesn't mean it's impossible.

oh ok, I never had a phone with mini. Guess I was too old to begin the training?

The mini was early Android and pre Android. The charging ports were real delicate. Micro was a bit better but I've had those go bad. Verdict still not out on C, but they seem better.

If they can control what you choose to stream, best believe they can control what's on the radio. That would be easier to control because you don't really get a choice in what is played. Not sure what your point is

Not really.. Ever here of pirate radio?

Probably not..

Broadcasting radio isn't difficult to do

The headphone jack will go away just like the removable battery. There are not enough of us who care for manufacturers to keep it there.

I hope so too. But I also hoped I was wrong about LG keeping the last full featured phone available as well.

In the case of the removable battery I think they succumbed to the marketplace pressure where people prefer pretty phones that support wireless charging and water resistance. I get that because the argument can be made that those features might help sell more phones.

I don't get the jack elimination because except for thinner phones I don't see the motivation or people buying a phone specifically because they feel jack elimination is a bonus.

Not that it's a bonus but that manufacturers won't think that people would not buy a phone just because it lacks the jack
