Poll.. Removable battery or fixed

I want replaceable not to swap mid-day, but to be able to keep these expensive computers for more than a yer when the batteries start to degrade. No phone sold in the last 3 years or so is much different from any other one. They should all easily last many years. I still have a perfectly fine Galaxy S5 as a backup running Lineage 16! Works like new and I have two new batteries for it also!

I fully understand that some people trade phones every year, and some people trade even sooner, but these people aren't the norm.

My theory is really simple, and very factual, all batteries degrade and many degrade really fast. A removable battery that is easily replaced gives anyone a option to keep their phones operating at the optimum level without having to send it anywhere to be replaced or repaired.

I've owned several phones that have had bad batteries in them, and had to go through the hassle of having them replaced with a refurbished one.. And I am not alone in this.

While the Carriers and manufacturers would love to see everyone change phones earlier than necessary, having a replaceable battery is keeping them from getting their way, and why they are pushing sealed backed phones.

All of the bs that has been spewed about needing it to get water resistant phones, thinner designs, glass backs is just that.. BS... just like needing it to have wireless charging too, since Qualcomm already has figured out how to implement this with a metal backed phone.

It's all about their greed and bottom lines and everybody from tech writers to reviewers have fallen for it.

The reality is we can have our cakes and eat them too but we never will get to.

PLUS ONE.

you can have plenty of devices that have removable batteries and waterproofing.

Consider any of the Garmin GPS devices.
Waterproofing is a marketing thing.

Removable, of course. That means maybe not IP67, and it may mean a slightly thicker phone. I don't bring my phone into a steamy bathroom or pool area, and I always use an Otterbox Defender, so neither one would affect me.

And while I'm wishing for the sky (because it's not going to happen - it cheaper to make a sealed phone - I;d like to see all phones have SD slots too. Even just as extra backup, they're a good investment. (If you didn't back it up somewhere, you don't really need it.)

User Replaceable. I am still using a LG V20 because of this severely under rated feature. Batteries start losing their life after a year. I am not going to pay someone $120+ and hope and pray that they reassemble the phone correctly when I can replace the battery myself for $35. Sealed phones have a place....with waterproofing and such. People saw that apple gave the iphone a glass back...android people saw that and wanted it....they got it....and it's a bad idea. Adds another fragile item to a phone. Every review I have read that had a glass back suggests that you better put it in a case. Then what is the point of having a "pretty" glass back? Give me metal removable anyday! When this V20 dies, I have another NIB waiting to be turned on.Sealed phones....keep them. No thanks!

That's a smart strategy.
