Poll - Will You Pay the $600 Best Buy Price for the HTC Flyer?

HTC hinted at getting two big apps using PEN support. I think one will be Kindle atleast.

That'd be pretty sweet. The annotation functionality they showed off in Kobo was pretty cool, so I hope they can integrate the same into Kindle, which I use much more often.

No Way

Agreed... I am canceling my BB pre-order. You can get the 16gb TF with keyboard for less than the Flyer with pen.

Sorry BB and HTC.. you lost my $$$$$. Thats just my personal decision, others have their own and I respect their choices.

NO WAY!!!
Lets see, both asus and acer are 10 inch tabs running the same os. Both cost less. More money smaller screen what will the Flyer do that the others won't?

Charlesleonard, No one in the forum is happy with the marketing scheme and we respect the choice of those that choose to cancel there pre-order. Those of us who remain have analyzed the strengths and weaknesses in the Flyer and for our own reasons will see it through delivery and personal testing. I suggests you read through the threads and evaluate beyond the pricing scheme, as we have.

First I am truly sorry if I've offended anyone. The poll question was about whether or not anyone was willing to pay $600 for the Flyer. My answer was no. The reasons were and are 1. screen size, 2. price. 3. no usb connections. Also I do not see where the specs on on the Flyer justify the price premium over the other tablets I mentioned.
I ask those of you that consider the Flyer worth the price to consider trying to convince the rest of us of the error of our ways. I haven't purchased either of the other tablets yet but will purchase an Android Tablet as soon as they get some of the bugs out of the os. By the way I was one of the earlier purchasers of the G1 and am currently using a Vibrant. very happy with the overall Android experience.:)

Actually, or should I say technically, speaking, small/miniature tech items generally cost more than larger items; therefore I can't understand why so many "geeky" types in this forum and others are comparing size and cost of various screen sizes. That doesn't make sense when you, or at least I, expect the smaller items to cost more . . .

Today I took a very close gander at HP's new TouchPad with webOS, wifi only; however its display is 9.7" which is too heavy (1.6 lbs!) for my use. The smaller tech stuff requires precision not needed in the larger dudes. I still believe the Flyer is THE tab for me . . . I trust I will still believe that when I see it in persona. :)

First, thanks for a quick reply. I noticed that you said that price is one of the comparison points. I spend my days traveling to remote locations to do repairs on equipment for various manuf. I would ideally use the tablet to be able to refer to specs, and updates while on site. No question a 7" device would be easier to carry. A larger screen is easier to read. The ability to use a usb device to quickly read read files is a nice feature for me. But all my purchases are done on a cost benefit basis so the extra $50 or $100 for the Flyer is a strong disincentive. All three devices would do the basic job. So I'm still on the fence.

I as others remain on the fence as well, the difference will be that some will make the final decision with the Flyer in hand and some will option out before shipping.

The cost is a bit to high for me. Plus I really wanted to get the Flayer due to the ability to write notes using the pen. However since the pen is a separate purchase, :( I might as well get the transformer with it's external keyboard.

Well, for me it's the principle of the matter--not that my cancellation will make any difference to HTC! I am in the process of changing the shipping to store pickup though instead of an actual cancellation. I want to somehow hold out till I see no pen in the box(!) but not pay the $8.99 shipping charge.

When I talked to the BB rep to change my order to store pickup, he was very congenial and patient with all my questions. He volunteered that the Flyer isn't expected to be in the stores till midJune. I told him maybe that was a larger version of HTC tab but he didn't agree to that . . . So, I'm more uncertain now than I was when I called him. He advised me to wait till Sunday to change to store pickup, so I will. Oh, he did say that the Scribe pen will be available in BB stores.

PS I wonder if he was referring to the View when he said midJune . . . I just now thought of that. :(

Damn the weak US dollar... it just costs too much to buy a Flyer from a foreign distributor.

BB-PITA Store

Damn the weak US dollar... it just costs too much to buy a Flyer from a foreign distributor.

My closest BB-PITA store is 35 miles away, so I plan to monitor my order status and if has not shipped, check on store availability Sun (22May) for pen and Flyer as my first option, if only the pen is available in the store, I will try to change my order to store pick up. It just chaps my butt that I would have to pay shipping on both items. :-\
