Poor photo quality making me consider trading in G3

I was struggling with low light pics and just realized that I had hdr set to auto. They turn out nice for stills such as landscapes but not so great for people. Pics have dramatically improved after shutting it off.

Someone here had mentioned this last year about low light pics and HDR so I made the adjustments and had noticed the improvement myself.

I'm coming from a Nokia Lumia 1020, and I'm having a really hard time getting great photos with this camera. It really can't compete. I'm not trying to hate on it, but it is what it is.

Take a look at the picture thread we have here in the forums. If most of those pics look the same as yours then you're most likely spoiled by your Lumia. If not, then you most likely have a sub-par camera on your device unfortunately. I know and have read about the 1020 being very good with pics so I understand where you're coming from.

I get great pictures in low light with my g3, especially when using hdr. Love the camera on this phone!

Im thinking of getting a G3, after 5 faulty Lumia 930s im getting fed up but the only thing stopping me is all the reviews saying that low light photos are bad. Do you use a different app for low light or just the standard app?

I think photos taken inside are not that great. I like to take pics at my daughter's dance competitions and they just never turn out great. The pics always turn out with a yellowish tint to them (maybe orange even). My kid's iPhone 6 is so bright and even. I'm not even sitting that far away.

You have to have the right white balance settings for this type of situation. Hopefully you weren't zoomed in as the zoom on camera phones is a guaranteed quality loss. I would also make sure that your lens is clean. I wipe mine before every photo I take with my phone.

Funny my daughter also competes in dance. Pic was taken with Xperia Z1S using "A better Camera" app. I was thinking of switching to the G3 but now I'm not so sure.

5 bad Lumias??? I find this hard to fathom. Reviews saying the G3 is bad in low light? Really? Are some people trolling in this thread?

its the weirdest problems, first 2 had scratches on the screen right out the box, third one the camera button barely worked and the battery died in 3-4 hours. Fourth and fifth both had the weird one, if i had my phone down on the desk i could not drag the notification down. The top of the screen would be non responsive. as soon as i touch the metal trim it would start working again.
And yes most reviews are saying its bad in low light. Thats why i was looking for opinions from this forum, real world users.

You get what you pay for and the G3 is heavily discounted just about everywhere and is a 10+ month old phone. You're better off getting something else. And in my opinion the G3 is fine in low light and I've been using it since July.

Got it in my hand now :p
Not sure which to keep, the picture quality itself is fine its just the colours look very dull compared to the lumia
In daylight is fine :)
