Hi Folks,

I am a newbie to the droid. I have been lurking here for about a month before I bought it, so I am in fairly good shape with it other than one iritiation.

I am coming from three years of Blackberry (8800, 9000) use. My iritation is with my POP/Comcast email. On my BB I could delete a message and it would delete it from the server without any issue. It also would stay on my BB after I downloaded the email from the server to my PC. With my droid I lose the message once I download it to my PC. Is there a way to do this? I have tried the stock email program, K-9 also.

I have even tried using forwarded email through G-Mail, but that does not delete the message on the Comcast server when I delete it in G-Mail. Is there a trick to this I am missing?

Look forward to some great info on this one if there is a solution.

Thanks,

Mark

No,no trick. I too came from Blackberry and I can't find a way to do it either.
I believe it is just the way Android works. Maybe later they will come out with something for this. Email is one thing I miss about my Blackberry, no one does email better than Blackberry.

Yes - The email - any type of email (Exchange, Pop, IMAP) is flawless on the Blackberry.

Now the browser on my Droid - its awesome! So much better experience.

I have to make up my mind on whether I want to lose the email from my BB when I download from the server and use the stock or K9apps. Or have to delete twice and use Gmail forwarding and keep them on my device. I think I am going with the stock app for now.

It is possible you have your POP email set to delete after download and the only reason the Blackberry and PC didnt delete is because for Outlook you can set it to leave email on server, same for Blackberry. I dont see a setting on the Droid that does that. You might want to check your email settings on the Comcast web client. I have Comcast and all my mail stays on the server unless I delete it

I too came from a Blackberry but I am using IMAP to get my emails. When you setup a POP3 account on the Droid email client, there is an option called "Delete email from Server" and the default is Never and the other option is "When I delete from Inbox." Which option do you have or are you using IMAP?

My settings are good.

I have it set up to delete on the server when I delete on the Droid.

I want to keep the messages I have on my Droid after they are off the server. My blackberry let me do this.

Call your provider

Not in my experience. I definitely prefer Exchange and ActiveSync (and Touchdown) on the Droid over Exchange and BES on the BB. You can't get full sync even with BES. It's push-and-reconcile on the BB.

BIS does offer some handy features for dealing with POP accounts but I never used it. IIRC, BIS never properly supported IMAP.
