I'm trying to get mms to work on a rom I'm trying to port. I may have something though! I'm not out yet!
I held shift, ctrl and right clicked in a folder that I extracted the apktool files, then chose "open command window here" and entered apktool and I believe it's working now!

I don't know about you guys, but I just put apktool and all it's other needed files in a folder and opened terminal, CD'd to the directory, and ran

java -jar apktool.jar d apk.apk

And for recompiling

java -jar apktool.jar b apk

Of course I have the sdk and java installed.

Okay so I decompiled the framework.jar for the BASE and then got a folder called "out" inside I got "apktool.yml"
What do I do next?

After decompiling, don't you replace the CDMAdispatcher or something like that from another Gingerbread rom?

For 99% of ROMs
To fix MMS on almost all ROMs, you're going to have to do this:
decompile the framework.jar (use apktool), go into the folder I mentioned for the phone FC fix for MIUIv4, and replace a file called CdmaSMSDispatcher.smali with the one from the BASE.

So that CdmaSMSDispatcher is what you need I suppose.

I believe you misunderstood me, I decompiled the framework.jar file and got a folder names "out" with apktool.yml inside it. I don't know how to get to "com/internal/android/telephony/cdma" and I don't know what to do next. Am I supposed to open up apktool.yml with a program? I also don't know how to get to "CdmaSMSDispatcher"

I'm not good with APKtool because I usually use 7 -zip for everything.

Try 7-zip, and if it doesn't work, ill be willing to help if you give me the rom link your porting.

4. Hit menu key, then select "add vpn"
5.For NAME type anything
6. For APN type anything
7. Menu key, then select save.
8. Select created apn
9. You now have 3G

Replace them at the System/App folder and change permissions, finally reboot and enjoy

Instead of the whole ROM, just send me your framework.jar and Bob's framework.jar.
Name them something like "frameworkiDroid.jar" and "frameworkBob.jar". I'll do the trick for you.
