Hey everyone,

I had a productive email exchange with a very nice rep at Samsung who is in a position to bring our concerns to those who can help us with the step tracker and the sleep tracker.

I'll keep you posted as I hear any news. I totally love my watch and I am keeping a hopeful attitude that these issues will be addressed and we can enjoy our new watches to the fullest.

Have a happy and safe New Year's Eve! :-*

Lol! Speaking of heart of the matter, my main bugbear at the moment is heart rate when running. Sometimes I get 100% recording but often it drops out. If I can't solve it, I would quite like to raise it with a Samsung rep myself. Do you have a contact email address or web address I could try?
Many thanks

I will send her an email and ask her to please look into the heart rate monitor. I believe I mentioned it but I will make sure she adds that to the list.

Wow, that's great, thanks! Any chance you could also mention the time zone issue in the food tracker which causes food calories added by the watch to be recorded in UTC time? Basically this means that if you're in central time and add calories via the watch after 6 PM, they get recorded the next day.

Thanks again, and I hope this gets the attention of Samsung's developers.

I will definitely pass that information along as well.

Well, since Ms. Samsung decided to stop communicating with me and has attempted to close my Better Business Bureau complaint with a lame response, I will share my rejection of what she had to say:

<<Complaint: 13284707

I am rejecting this response because: My step tracker remains inaccurate and the Samsung agent simply stopped corresponding with me after telling me that, "There definitely are people having issues with the watch. I understand what you are saying about the metal detectors. It is a calibration mechanism that probably needs fixing. That would be a software fix. I am, as you stated, in a position where I can make this known to people who can and will work toward taking the appropriate action to identify and fix this issue. I am acknowledging that I do see people having this problem. And, just one customer suffering is too many. So, please rest assured that I will research this and make it my personal goal to bring these issues to the correct people."

Why would anyone believe this rep or accept her response? I don't and won't. Get it together Samsung.>>

So, that's about it.

P.S. The metal detectors is in regards to a calibration issue I spoke to her about in relation to the watch being wound too tight. I used to experience metal detection issues when I did prayer work in a prison. I could not get in with jeans, the calibration was so high, yet I could get through airport security with no problem.

To be honest, trying to close your complaint aside, I think it's quite incredible that you've got that in writing. Well done! If she's true to her word, you might end up being instrumental in helping a lot of people. If she isn't, you've got proof that you were promised this by Samsung.

And that is the thing, she acknowledges there are issues with the watch and then tries to just brush it all off. No wonder I am half crazy over this whole thing, lol.

It will be interesting to see how the BBB handles my response. She obviously has gone against her written word to me.

I don't know if I'm misunderstanding something, but do you know whether or not she has or will bring it to the attention of the people that can make changes? Isn't it possible she still will?

I would have to go back and look at her reply again, but basically she said I should work with the carrier.

She has made some big promises and I hope she is true to her word. But I agree she shouldn't have closed your complaint. At the least she should have kept it open and said she would get back to you, even if that might take a while. And I don't see what the carrier has to do with it, either!

On the S3, heart rate requires the watch sensors on the back have continuous contact with your skin during the measurement. If you are running it us likely moving around. The strap must be tight.

Thanks. It's the same with the Galaxy Watch. I have to wear it incredibly tightly and with the watch on the underside of the wrist, where the veins are closest to the surface. Then I get close to constant readings. Occasionally, it still loses the pulse though and I have to do a manual measurement via the heart rate widget to get it going again. It's the last thing you want to be doing while you are actually running, but unfortunately, that's the way it is.

You don't have to look far to see this is a major issue for a lot of people:

https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5...xy-Watch-not-measuring-Heart-rate/td-p/671104

Also, most decent smart watches have 3 LED heart rate sensors, where as the Galaxy Watch only has one.

I think Samsung do read these forums and the almost complete lack of acknowledgement and lack of software updates for all issues (not just heart rate) leads me to suspect they will only be addressed by the release of the next Galaxy Watch they bring out.

Thanks a lot. I really like my watch too.
