Possible iPhone convert

( this was meant as a reply...sorry!)

I made the switch, or at least am in the process! lol! Came from the 7+ and apple watch. Had a Note 5 for about 4 months then went back to the iphone. So far I'm loving the Note 8! Will detail that in another post. However, as for the watch "replacement", I went with the S3 Frontier. So far I'm really impressed with it! Nice having a round watch face again! lol! Truthfully, ease of use on this is really better than Apple Watch. At least from a navigation stand point. I battled with waiting for the Sport version that's waterproof, but decided that it really wasn't that big if a deal. I went with the Apple Watch not being waterproof forever, so no big deal. In the few days I've had both phone and watch, it's been pretty awesome! Biggest game changer as far as the watch goes...battery life! I can go 2+ days without dropping it on the charger. So, you can't go wrong with the Frontier, IMO. Hope that helps!

That does help, I love reading other apple switchers thoughts. If money was not a factor I'd pick up the frontier for sure. I am leaning towards waiting for the sport or picking up an S2 as I'm still perfectly happy with my series 0 apple watch. I am currently on the hunt for an old iPhone 5 or something to get the $300 from AT&T. Don't see any reason to trade my iPhone 7 so I will either give that to the wife or sell.. thanks again for the info!

I’ve read most of this topic and haven’t seen anyone talking about messaging. If I missed it, my apologies. I’m a 9 year iOS user and I just don’t get excited about any of the new iPhones. I have tried to convert a few times before (GS3, GS4 and GS8+) but ultimately always go back to an iPhone. However I am in love with the Note 8 and ready to convert this time I think. The ONLY drawback I have is we just bought our 10 y/o an iPad for his bday so we can iMessage with him and if I keep the N8, that doesn’t work.
My question if anyone is in a similar situation is what free messaging app do you use between your Android device and iOS device if one of them is wifi only?
We had my son on TextFree with his Nexus but then he started getting unsolicited and disturbing texts and even calls so I’m staying away from putting that back on his device. I hear a lot about Whatsapp but is there no iOS client? Google Hangouts? Any suggestions? TIA.

I use Google Hangouts.

I have a similar issue, but with my wifes iPhone not an iPad. My plan was to get facebook messenger (apparently you don't actually need a facebook account to use it) since my wife already uses that for other folks.

I didn't know you an use FB messanger w/o a FB account. That's good to know. I'll try that this evening.

This may be a topic for a new post but I see the most common thing in this tread is iMessages. What is it going to take to get Google do get something close to this. I actually use Allo with my wife but no one else. If it worked with SMS and integrated Duo, it would be pretty awesome.

I've heard of Allo but doesn't that require an actual number to get working? In my case I could put it on my N8 but not on my son's ipad. Or am I missing something?

I know most of this I could just monkey around with and figure out but I figured others have gone through this and already have a solid solution.

I'd be curious how the Apple Watch plays with Fit, etc on the Note 8. I'm thinking of adding the Watch 3 to my AT&T account with the hopes of those two playing well... but if they don't I'd still have a very slick watch for $22/month.

I know I can use link sharing to send photos and videos to my wife in full quality but would there be any way for her to send them to me? Just email?

My wife and I use Send Anywhere. Works great from iOS to Android and vice versa.

I still have my iPad and plan on keeping my iPhone 7+, so at some point I'm going to remove my phone number from iMessage and just use my email so I can message my mom and a few other people. She lives in an extremely remote area of Idaho and although finally has cell service available, no cell phone yet. So we bought her an iPad to message and FaceTime us.

I'd think messenger or am encrypted app like Wickr would be the best bets for messaging between devices. Messenger would be the easiest, since you don't need a FB account just to use it.

I have a s8 plus and so stuck on which one should I switch to
Note 8
Iphone 8 plus
IPhone X

Are you happy with the S8? Seems the only practical thing you'd be gaining is S pen. Where a switch to iOS would be much more dramatic. I'm ready to switch because I'm both bored/disappointed in iPhone and intrigued by the Note..

I am coming back to the Note after having the Iphone 6+ and 7+ and am pretty excited, I think the only thing I will miss like other have said is IMessage. I just got an iPad pro not to long ago so I can always use that for iMessage and facetime so should have the best of both worlds.

Just picked up my note yesterday. This screen is amazing, it's a huge leap in quality coming from the iPhone 6s. It will take me a few days to get used to Android again but I'm happy with the switch right now.

I’m a convert. I tried last year with the Note 7 but we all know how that ended up. Been an iPhone user since iPhone 4 (first one offered on Verizon) and the Note 7 was the first android phone that made me feel ok to leave iOS. Because of the Note 7 deal Samsung offered, and because of my complete lack of excitement about the iPhone X (I’d rather have the 8 plus if I upgraded an iPhone) I figured this was a golden opportunity to try out the Note 8. I get it on the 19th and I can hardly wait to get it set up and see what it can do.

You will love the note8. Samsung's apps are very iOS like.

And you can do so much more with this phone over any iPhone ever released. Also, you are not told what you can and can not have running on your phone and what you can disable. Enjoy your Note 8, I am loving mine!
