AirPush ads can be permanently turned off!
It took some looking, but in addition to an app that will do it, you can do it manually without having to install the AirPush Opt Out app on your phone.
All you have to do is go to www . airpush . com / optout and enter the IMEI from your phone. On mine, it's under Settings / About Phone / Phone Identitiy. It's just one long number.
On the Android Market, I found an AirPush Detector app, but it didn't find anything. And I found the Airpush Permanent Opt-Out, but I don't think I should have to have an app on my phone, taking my my memory, in order to turn off notification bar spam that should never be allowed in the first place. The Notification Bar is NOT for spam, and I think Google should sue them on behalf of their users for abusing their good name. I'd also love to see a list of AirPush apps so that I could boycott them. I pay for all apps I use regularly, and use several that are free with no pay option.
BUT THE WORST violation is the ad itself. The first time it happened, I opened the notification because I didn't know any better. It took me to a site with a big button that offered me some information. Fortunately I scrolled down and read the fine print, where it said that by clicking that button, I was agreeing to at $10/month service fee. Naturally, I would have spotted it and discontinued after the first month, but even if I got my money back, I would have to waste some of my valuable time hassling with it. And I know that there are many users out there who would not notice or fight it, who would then be paying this company for their scandalous practices. THIS MUST STOP. My mom doesn't understand how this sort of thing works, and would be exactly the type to fall for it. Most of us have moms or friends who would fall for it. Let's protect them from such LYING BAS-TARDS!

And oh, but the way, whoever runs this board, why is it that I have to have a post count of 1 or more before I can post a helpful URL? This makes no sense! And I didn't even add the link, I would have been happy with plain text, but this stupid program keeps trying to make a URL no matter what I do. So the above URL has been spaced out so users can see it, but the program won't parse it into an actual link. Sorry for the inconvenience users, but it's not MY doing!
