Possible security issue?

So yesterday I cracked the screen on my N4 :-( I was trying to prop it up to take a family beach picture with the timer function and the phone tipped over. It didn't even fall, just tipped over and a small pebble hit the edge of the glass perfectly causing a "spider web" crack. I lost touch screed functionality as well. I was/am bummed but thought I kinda deserved it for taking the case off the phone to prop it against.

I have a pattern lock on my N4 and have been trying to find a way to get my photos of the device. Today, by accident, I restarted the N4 while is was plugged into my computer and Android File Transfer popped up and allowed me to remove all my pictures (and any other files I wanted). While I am happy to have access to my files I'm wondering; Is this a security issue? FWIW, I'm stock 4.2.2 rooted.

Thoughts?

Sounds like it definitely could be. It'd still be difficult for someone to get any unencrypted password or PCI, etc. however contacts, photos, documents, etc. are accessible. I'm not sure if this has to do with some settings relative to the rooting process, etc. or if this is possible on out of the box devices.

Thanks for the reply. It would be interesting for someone with an unrooted N4 to give this a try. Ive got a replacement screen on the way, if no one else gives it a go I'll try it after I'm up and running.
