Possibly a stupid question re car charging

Hi, sorry if this is a stupid question but can I charge the S9 in the car by just using an existing micro USB cable I have, using the micro USB to type C adaptor Samsung provided?

Would be good to make use of spare cable I already have but I don't want to damage the phone or battery?
