ok so everything was fine upon rooting and actually installing my first rom. i got rid of the first rom and radio because my connection was horrible. So i tried installing lightning 3.3. after intalling and reboot, i get a bunch of red pulsing honeycombs after the htc start up. It then freezes, and nothing. I have tried to hboot and it doesnt even let me try to go to recovery. it automatically goes into asking me if i want to update the system. I actually tried to do the update and when i reboot...very same thing, red death. i tried plugging into the wall charger, nothing. the orange charge light comes on, but nothing in the display, just black. any suggestions??

You never took the pg05img file off you SD card right?

That's why Hboot is not working correctly. Take that off. Since you applied the "update" your Root might be messed up too (depending of what update it was, I bet it was the new radio (~25MB), if it was the new radio you're fine, just take it off). Does it still say S-off in Hboot still? You can use a card reader to take the pg05img off.

Something wasn't right with the ROM and that's why you had issues, I've had ROMs do that to me too. Either a kernel incompatibility or the download got corrupted.

You're far from bricked.

I actually did remove the pg05img originally, and then installed the lightning rom with the corresponding radio. It does still say s-off in hboot. I am definitely going to try the card reader suggestion, any idea where and what kind i should get? Best Buy?

Thanks so much for the info, i aapreciate you taking the time to help me out!

My pleasure.
Walmart, best buy, just about anywhere. There are the kind that will read the micros; and also there are regular SD cards you put the micro inside and then put the regular SD card in your computer (if it has a card reader built in). Then take the file off and get to recovery and flash a backup or a different ROM.

Just make sure the card reader or SD card adapter can read up to 32GB. (They all should now a days, I have one from 3 years ago that does, chances are it wont say but I bet it will anyways).

Best Buy here i come! Im becoming completely addicted to rooting and roms and such! lol...thanks so much again, you've been a huge help. I will re-post once i try it out. Now are you saying to just remove the radio and hboot? Or should the phone actually get past the boot screen and i need to go into like clockwork?

Just remove the pg05img file then boot directly to Hboot (Volume down + Power). Now it will let you select Recovery and the hit power button. This should bring you to CWR.

I wouldn't bother with this ROM again since it's still a possibility that you got a bad download. If you want to try it again just redownload it.

I installed an overclock Kernel. Ever since then, the phone keeps freezing. It keeps auto resetting and still freezing. I have tried the hard reset multiple times. Any tips?

Try a different kernel. It sounds like that one is too undervolted for your phone or just plain buggy. Which one is it?

It was the top one on the Kernel app. I cant access the phone to see it specifically. How do I get it off without access to the phone system?

problem solved! I did what you said and it worked perfectly! Cant thank you enough...any certain roms, kernels, radios you recommend?

Do you know how to get to CWR, just flash a new one over it. I've never used the kernel manager app but I bet you can just flash a different one there too. Make sure to clear your cache and Dalvik cache before installing a new one.

I'd recommend Kernels by Imoseyon. He makes Overclocked ones, 1.4GHz and 1.9GHz. He makes an Extremely undervolted version and a moderatly undervolted (if your phone has issues with the Extreme) version for each.

I can get to CWR through the hard reset via the hboot. Not sure where to go from there to rid myself of this kernel.

Awesome good to hear. I'd have to recommend Kernels by Imoseyon like I said in the above post.

Das Bamf and Perfect Storm are probably my favorite roms and most stable for me. The new radios have been causing some issues for some people (signal loss/issue and reboots) so hopefully you're not one of them. I couldn't run the new radio with Das bamf but Perfect storm 1.4 I'm good. Lots of people are running Das bamf with the new radio so I was probably just a fluke.

Liquid thundersense was kinda fun too.

CM7 will be nice one it moves out of the alpha stage.

If you don't have the most recent Clock Work Recovery downloaded, download Rom Manager and get CWR through it. From ROM manager you can Boot straight to recovery (using the option on the main page). Also using Rom Manager you need to make frequent backups of your current ROM so you always have a stable ROM to flash back to.

To install a new kernel through CWR-

First- select clear Cache and clear it.
Second -select advanced / Clear Dalvik cache and clear it
Third -go back to the main CWR menu and select install zip from SD / Choose file (or something similar to this, I don't remember 100% right now) and navigate to the kernel that your downloaded and install.
Fourth - Select reboot at the main CWR menu.

I have Clock Work Recovery downloaded and it is rebooting now. Do I need to do anything else on the CWR menu besides reboot system?

das bamf was the first rom i flashed. ofcourse i also flashed the radio (not the newest version because i didnt see it.) Im still just so new im trying to understand. the bamf radio im assuming is the cause of such a horrible connection, essentially wiping out my 3g. I had a great connection with the stock radio. So can i run like the perfect storm radio with the bamf rom?

Um I'm not too sure what you're asking here.

If you don't know, the Thunderbolt 3G and 4G network have been down all day. - http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-thunderbolt/79965-fyi-3g-4g-down-nation-wide.html

Bamf 1.5 and Perfect storm 1.4 both Run on the same radio (new one).
