Since I'm already running a rooted ESE53 build I'm gonna wait til they root the official update and start building on it... I think. Unless somehow there's a nice stock change, but comparing it with Pete's Bugless Beast and a 1.25ghz kernel I'm thinking I'm staying w/ rooted.

This isn't some loser moderator in the Moto forums (moto doesn't control OTA) that makes claims that are obviously incorrect and not based on facts.

You think Verizon would say "yup, this is how it happens" and it not happen? Cheah, that wouldn't be a PR nightmare!

I'm hoping we see the nexus style live wallpaper like the video that dropped last week, with the red moving blocks. As far as everyone saying they are just sticking with their rooted phone, be my guest, I am happier without all the force closes.

I agree with you. I just do not know when it will be available to ME (thus my "if and when it comes" statement). Can't wait until Thursday, but might have to wait until Friday, or Saturday

The actual Verizon flyer shows that live wallpaper is in the update. Hey look, post number 1!

I am Rooted, Runing AdamZs Android 2.1, Smoked Glass V6.0.1.

Is there any real reason as to why I would want to go back to the stock and wait for the update? I am sure once we are all running 2.1 there will be even bigger and better roms, but just looking for opinions....

Any idea why they didn't include the 5 home screens? Maybe the live wallpapers across 5 screens are too much for Droid (stock processor speeds)?

On this Verison it actually reads 2.1(ERE 53)

If you are running AdamZ's latest 2.1 ROM... I read in his forums that it was just a mistype and it is in fact ESE53.

today is a great day in android history. The reason i love android over the iphone line is that i have freedom to buy from a number of phones with various formfactors based on what I want. With the nexus one, everyone said android updates would be "google's way or the highway" from now on (especially scared ifanboys) but this proves i can still buy the phone I want and still expect updates and support. The android ecosystem is free once again. Thanks Moto! everyone critisized but you were the first to do it, and you even managed to wrestle out live wallpapers for us. Wasnt that supposed to be a nexus exclusive? not anymore

People's exhibit A: The LG Voyager V7 update that was coming next week or whatever and took 6 months
Exhibit B: the whole Storm1 official update fiasco of a year ago that people was coming "next week" "in a few days" etc
Exhibit C: The droid update we were supposed to get a month ago

All of these were spread from sources that were supposed to know what they were talking about (VZW support, call center reps, store reps, etc.) and all took waaaaay longer than they were supposed to.

Now I'm not saying this will be the case here but if you think VZW will not announce an upgrade that is not ready or delay one at the last minute then you are mistaken.....

I wish I didn't get force closes while running roms, but I do, so that makes the stock 2.1 release way more exciting!

Seems strange that the extra two screens wouldn't be added. I wouldn't think it would cause such a performance hit vs. live wallpapers that they couldn't be added. Even live wallpapers plus the two extra screens can't be terribly intense. At least, I wouldn't think.

Anyway, I'm one of those weird people that likes having official updates, so I'm pretty excited for Thursday (and beyond); I want 2.1 on my Droid!
