@crackmonkey is there a step by step guide for installing that update from stock 1.5? Ive seen guides for the rooted 2.1 but i am new to this n i dont know if the steps are different

I need help!! Im useing astro and I can not find a file that says root. I want to update but can't if I don't have that file right?

Ok the root folder is the sd card make shure to put the file is the main part of sd card not in a folder

It's definitely coming...and we won't know until Verizon pushes the update out...

so i just downloaded the update and ran it. Now all my contacts are gone. I only had a few on gmail and so when it synced, that was all i got. Did it save my contacts on the phone somewhere or am i screwed?

yah sorry you lost those contacts that why you save all your contacts with gmail

i put the file on my sd card and when i go to hboot checkpoint it says sd checking then a bunch of files n then wrong files like 10 times then brings me to

fastboot<recovery<clear storage<simlock..... what did i miss? it should just install the update correct?

I was looking at that Evil Eris also. I thought it looked really cool. But I'm wondering if i should try it or not. I already have one of the 2.1 roots so i'm not sure if it'll work. If anyone could help it'd be much appreciated.

First post here, been using this thread to keep tabs, figured I'd contribute in return. Just got this e-mail back today from VZW in regarding 2.1 OTA.

We did anticipate the release of the 2.1 software for the Eris towards the end of the first quarter (March/April). As of right now we do have any official word of when it will be available. Sometimes these delays are as a result of last minute software changes that haven't met our expectations. I would like to be optimistic to say that we should have the software update sometime this month. In all honesty without an official statement from our product team, anything would be merely an educated guess.



I do encourage you to keep your eyes open for the software release. Normally the OTA software updates are pushed in phases. When the software is available you will be able to download it either from http://support.vzw.com or from HTC Mobile Phones - Product Support - Smartphones Help.

First post here, been using this thread to keep tabs, figured I'd contribute in return. Just got this e-mail back today from VZW in regarding 2.1 OTA.

If that really came from a customer service rep I commend them. That is the most honest answer I have ever seen come from a Verizon customer service rep. Personally, I do think we will see it this month. I think it will be released once the Droid update is finished.

What does upset me is I think the Eris update has been done for a little while now. I think they wanted the Droid update out first and we are having to suffer for it. The Droid already had updated software (2.0.1) where us Eris users have been dealing with version 1.5 and a much larger lack of available apps in the Market because of the older version we are running. But, there is nothing I can do about it since Verizon controls the updates. This is still the best phone I have ever had though.

I think he was just saying how compared to all his previous phones the Eris is the best, although he really wants to 2.1 update to come out asap. Just cause he likes the phone doesn't mean he's not excited for the 2.1 release...

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service i installed this version of the leak. is this the newest one? and if not how do i upgrade? do i just put it on my micro sc card and run go to hboot just like the first time? because i did notice that i do have to sign into google once n awhile and i know that's one of the problems the first leak had. i go look on my sd card n the PB00IMG file i put on it first is still there after upgrading to 2.1. would i have to take that off my sd card and put the new one on it or would taking the first one off it mess it up? please help i think im running the first leak and not really liking it

I'm pretty sure once you used the leak you're stuck with it. That's why rooting is so much better than the leaks. Sorry :\
