downloaded new 2.1 leak few hours ago and its def pretty sweet. Bugs from previous version appear to be gone. I'm thinking this may be official version we all get...

its never going to work on the eris. you need a minimum speed processor and the eris does not have it.

Yes you did, 2nd leak is out. Seems like it has addressed all bugs related to the leak.

Download apk file . Download astro file manager from market. Use astro to move file from SD card download folder to main part of SD card. Power off. When you power back on hold down volume button(downwards )while also holding down end button. It will boot to that white screen. It will do its thing,then it will ask you if you want to update. Press end button or track ball. Doesn't matter which. That's it...

The leaked version seems to work pretty good overall with some exceptions. So it seems that the official update should work.

Is this something a noob can do? I know nothing about OS but i am getting sick of waiting for 2.0. Would i just basically totally mess my phone up attempting to update it? Or is it really easy to download and install

EASY IF YOU FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS AND ARE CAREFUL but sure you can mess up your phone if you screw something up

I just got off the phone with HTC tech. support and the rep I talked to said there is no time line for when 2.1 will come out for the Eris. But they are aiming for the end of March or the latest sometime in April. He said Verizon is currently testing it ( not new news everyone knows that ). But he did say that they are aiming for the end of the month for it to be released.

So, since the Droid has been pushed back (Front page info), do you think the Droid Eris update will be prolonged longer? I mean i don't think so because Motorola is the one holding up the Droid and HTC is done with 2.1 for the Droid Eris it's just Verizon who's testing... So what do you guys think?

Who knows honestly, I mean I would hope that their flagship model wouldnt need to get the update first. I'm waiting to see what is going to be coming to verizon in december then I'm definitely going to upgrade to another phone.
