I'm not sure why I keep following this thread, maybe its all the silliness. Better to laugh than . . . .

Hasn't HTC and Verizon confirmed the Eris will receive the 2.1 OS? It's just a question of time?

Or do folks really think HTC/VZ have written off this discontinued phone?

HAHAHA tropper you're killin me dude every couple days I check this thread and your posts have me rollin hhaha
lol thank you I try to please the masses :D
Im kinda gettin bored with this thread so Im "spammin it"

I say hold on a few more days soon as they release the incredible we should get it I really believe thats what they are waiting on. Kinda coincedental they EOL the eris and take its Droid name and give it away to the new replacement that comes in as its going out?
They dont want the confusion of the cheaply priced htc Droid eris with 2.1 selling more than the more expensive htc Droid Incedible with 2.1 .
Sounds pretty logical cuz the non-nerd crowd with only see the price an not really care bout the 1ghz snapdragon and the AMOLED screen .

I dont blame you for spamming this thread. It seems all that could be said has been said about the 2.1 update and then some.

I must say that every morning I wake up still hoping for that ota update. Once I see its not there I check this forum to see if some other got it rolled out to them first. I dunno even know why I want the 2.1 anymore. I'm sure once I get I will enjoy it for a bit and then want a new update.

This is just a gut feeling, and I have no info to back it up, but I also think the 29th makes sense for the start of the 2.1 rollout, since that's the day the Incredible rolls out...I think if the update isn't getting pushed out by that weekend Verizon fears they'll have butt-loads of us jamming into VZW stores asking for free upgrades to the Incredible since we've been promised, and denied, the Eris 2.1 update (I will). I dunno, maybe just wishful thinking, but here's to hoping...

I hope it's soon, I don't want to root or install a leak, there seems to be problems with all that, more features are cool, but not vs a signal strength loss. Hopefully by May or June something will surface, I dropped my iPhone and ATT with heavy early termination fees to get VZW and Eris but did not know 1.6, 2.0 or 2.1 were unicorns.

I respect the fact you may just want official sanctioned signed software from Verizon. but don't be spreading rumors LOL. I'm currently running Ivan's rom and it has umm zero problems including no signal lost you just mentioned. its true some roms are buggy. some do have signal loss you mentioned. but devs and community ussually let you know what's working and what's not. there are a few that are recognized as being totally stable with everything working fine. there is NO downside to rooting. I could always upgrade to "official version " when it comes out if we wanted to. Eris going the way of G1. G1 Is running what?

Rick620, does the Ivan ROM still give you the Sense UI? And does it speed up the phone like the 2.1v2 leak supposedly does?

I am looking to root soon, and I want the most stable 2.1 ROM that looks and acts as close to the 2.1 OTA as possible. Any ideas? Thanks.

I'm still running the original 2.1 rom and the only glitch is my contacts. You have to hit the phone button not people. Not that bad of an inconvenience. Rooting is okay.

That... isn't a terrible idea. If a large number of people did it, they might actually push out the update, just to shut us up.

Let the flames for why it IS a terrible idea begin.

As a former Eris owner, you only need to look back to the first few pages of this tread to get a sense of what is in store. Ask yourself, do you really have a good feeling about 2.1 OTA?

It really does not matter if it's official, I just don't want a buggy rom, i've looked up how to get Ivans if the update doesn't go ota soon, looks like it's easier to do on a pc vs mac, at least for me. Thanks for the tip. Every day i (we) wait it's easier to accept rooting as the only good option.
