Post Droid Eris 2.1 Findings HERE

go to setting / applications / running services and you can see how much memory you have free as well as what's running.

with 2.x though it's best not to dwell on it.

Sweet! Thanks. I definitely won't go too far with it, I just like to know how to do things and find stuff. I did however see that Gtalk was running, and I've never even opened it, I use eBuddy.

I have a problem I haven't seen addressed anywhere here yet.

After upgrading to 2.1, everything seemed to work fine. But then I got a call last night and answered it, but couldn't hear anything. And apparently, the person on the other end couldn't hear me. (This was shortly after receiving a call that I had no problems hearing, and I don't believe I played with the settings at all.) Tried again two more times and same thing. We were connected, but no one could hear anything.

I restarted my phone, and it began working fine. But this morning it happened again. (I also couldn't hear a message I was trying to play back in Google Voice.) I restared and again that fixed it, but obviously I don't want it to keep sliding into silence. Does anyone else have this problem? Any ideas how to fix it? I'd like to keep 2.1 if possible, but if this keeps happening I'll just downgrade to 1.5. (Sigh)

I have had the same thing happen to me too. I am goig to hard reset my phone and not install any apps and see if it continues to do it.

I recently notice my battery life going south really quickly recently ,and thought it was cause of upgrade 2.1 . I deleted newsrob ,tweetcaster and news and weather for Droid . My battery life has been remarkbly good now. Not sure which one of the apps was the culprit ,but I'm going with news and weather for Droid which was ported to Eris ...

Has anyone noticed that the weather app and email won't auto update anymore. And when I go in and set them to both update auto, or as mail comes in it just turns them both back to manual.

Mine never FC's, it just keeps setting itself back to manual update or receive on both mail and weather. I can't get them to lock on.

someone needs to make a 2.1 vs 1.5 test video involving internet cause i would love to see a side by side comparrison... i would but i dont have access to a 1.5 eris

Anyone having problems with the browser? The text is miniscule and the setting to make it bigger doesn't seem to do a thing. Also, there's a ton of text over-written on top of other text which makes it all a big jumbled mess.

Switch to a different browser. I love using Xscope. It has a unique "pin-zoom" which in my opinion is much easier to use than "pinch-zoom". And it seems you can still use the pin-zoom even when pinch-zoom stops working. Give it a try; there is a free and paid version in the app market. Free version works just fine. Also faster than stock and dolphin browser.

You can change the text size and zoom distance in the browser settings. You can also use the double tap to quickly zoom in and out. Many more options in this version.

I am having the silence on calls that requires a reboot.

Oh yah, I also want to win the Droid Eris otterbox :)

Everything works great for me, some minor app issues like 3D Homerun Derby forces close quite often but nothing major. After a couple of days I dont have to re login into GMail now on reboot!

Coming from a BB Storm 2, this phone with 2.1 beats it hands down!

I just pinch zoom in the browser, works fine for me. The only app problem I have run into so far is google earth.. I tap it and it never starts.

I can do a side by site video... my wife is still on 1.5 waiting for the official OTA. I want to catch her official update just in case the leak can't update! :-).

What do you want me to compare?

Google Earth doesn't work on the Qualcom processor the Eris has. its not powerful enough. I believe I read in the requirements was the Snapdragon processor.
