Anyone having problems with the browser? The text is miniscule and the setting to make it bigger doesn't seem to do a thing. Also, there's a ton of text over-written on top of other text which makes it all a big jumbled mess.

You can use Dolphin Browser, great browser app, tons of settings including font and size settings.

Location - GPS Question

I recall in 1.5 I could turn on location but not GPS. The location allows for proximity and isn't as precise or battery draining as the GPS is.

On 2.0 I can't choose "location" without the GPS turning on as well. So my GPS is always up and running. I can choose "911" location option but that turns off location.

Am I missing something here? A application maybe?

Google Earth doesn't work on the Qualcom process the Eris has. its not powerful enough. I believe I read in the requirements was the Snapdragon processor.

Only app not working correctly is my banking app, it wont show up in apps and can't be loaded from backup. Other than that issue, I think the leaked 2.1 beta is a success everything else is flawless.

im just posting to win a case. Im enjoying 2.1. haven't really noticed any bugs, unless increased speed and a better market and calendar widgets are bugs. The icons are all nicer too. MMS sends to iphones where it would always fail before, with the stock messaging app. That's all.

im just hopin all of us who got the leak didnt screw ourself out of gettin the OTA but im sure if any problems arise with getting it someone will figure out a solution. especially if the real one includes LWP

Even if we can't update to official 2.1, i'm ok with that because this leaked 2.1 is working out great for me. On a side note, I did hear that the official OTA update will have LWP. And yes, I would also love an Otterbox case...i'm constantly paranoid about breaking this delicate piece of hardware

I bit the bullet and updated last week.

At first I was shocked with how well my phone was performing. It continues to run faster than I ever expected.

I didn't experience the "no sound on calls" bug, or have to re-log into gmail everytime I restarted, at least at first.

About two days ago these two bugs showed up and have been irritating, but not bad enough for me to regret the switch.

I changed the settings in Handcent and have since seen very few "unsent" messages.

Overall, it is as good as advertised.

If someone could fix the "Phone calls" issue and the gmail login, it would be awesome.

Handcent doesn't work. I have been using stock and it works just fine. Unless handcent was updated, then please, somebody update us.

I uninstalled handcent and switched to chompsms and its been working great since. Chomp and handcent are very similar.

I was having the no voice on calls, and reset my phone. I havent had it come back until i installed google voice. To those that have had the same problem, do you use google voice?

Is anyone having a problem making phone calls? I dial a number, seems not to matter which way (speed dial, smart search or pressing a recently called number) and it has a uncanny delay. I at first believe I just didn't press anything, but then the phone freezes, and I try to redial and after 15-20 seconds it finally makes the call. I've learned not to react so suddenly to this but it's annoying, this has been happening since I installed 2.1

do a android central search for sites that carry apk files. that's how I got chomp on my Eris since it does appear on market yet . its working really well

Yeah i contacted ChompSMS the night 2.1 came out and they told me they are looking into why it's not appearing in the Market. it seems that there are other apps like smart keyboard pro for instance that run great on 2.1 but won't appear in the market. For all these apps you can usually go on the owners website and find a link to the APK.

To download the apk just navigate your phones browser to the URL (address)
Then once downloaded click on the download file.
If you haven;t installed something not from the market before it will take you to security settings on your phone. Here you have to select the box (or de-select i forget which) to allow unsigned apps.
Then it will install and your good to go.

ChompSMS i've always said works better than Handcent. Anybody who is having issues with Handcent should definitely give this a try.
