I'm wondering if this could be an antenna issue with the phone...

Sprint is ordering me a replacement phone... I hope this helps. I also tested next to some clear 4G units and also received the same speeds, and the clear units were getting an avg speed down of about 3.6megs.

Sorry for sounding like a broken record but please read the first post in the thread link below. The android speedtest apps simply do not work with 4G. There are other methods to use... I'm getting up to 7Mbps even though Android speedtest apps only show 1.5Mbps.

@moreboost

My GF and I get similar results on our EVOs, FWIW and I've tried every speed test I know (Speedtest.net, Speakeasy.net, mobilespeedtest.com). Hawaii's Sprint network is just terrible, it would appear. I really love this phone, but it makes it difficult sometimes, esp. when my friend shows me a 3Mb down speed test from an iPhone 4. 4G is not an advantage here. Period.

Maybe I'll head down to the Sprint store to ask them and/or demand retribution. ;)

I hear you loud and clear. I get my new phone soon and we will see. I hope its not a problem design with the phone. I'm paying the $30 extra for the hot spot too :( to share what 3G speeds?

In my building I get zero to 1 bar of 4g and the result is -

Down - 2.3mbits
Up - 500 kbits

At home where I get the full 4g coverage, it is a huge jump...

Down - 6.8mbits
Up - 1.04mbits

Signal means everything with 4g.

On a related note, my last four 3g results are as follows -

Down - 2.319mbits
Up- 975kbits

Down - 1.861mbits
Up- 975kbits

Down - 2052mbits
Up- 99kbits

Seems 3g = 4g at work. lol.

4G speeds in non-officially turned up 4G location

Here's my 4G speed test out of Brooklyn. 4G isn't officially turned up yet in this area...

Turned off 3G while conducting tests. Also only getting 1 or 2 4G bars.

Well..

Sprint's Hawaii 4G network seems to have mostly un-fubared itself on the exact day of the Great OTA Update Apocalypse. Now, I generally get at minimum 1.5 Mbps down and I've gotten as high as 4 Mbps (avg. is around 2-3). About damn time, Sprint.
