I spoke with someone claiming to be a sprint retention rep who told me sprint would release the evo until june 13th. He also told me sprint won't announce the price until the day before. My guess is sprint just might give the phone for free with a 2 year contract, as we saw in the blurred picture of the phone at a corporate store, to attract a very large number of customers. I believe sprint has improved alot over the years and just have a bad name, they want people to give sprint another chance. Or perhaps they will give the phone for free and require you to add 4g and mobile hotspot for additional charges per month to make up for the cost.

Now thats that's just plain old stupid. No way in hell would they give away a brand new phone with everything it has under the hood. Your crazy

If they're selling the upgraded Tour (aka Bold) for $200 after MIR there is no chance is heII the Evo will be free, not for another year at least.

Is it a norm for phone companies to pass a definite date without the FCC approval first? I'm just wondering if the NY party on the 12th or the IO near the 20th arrives and there's still no approval how this end of May prediction will be a possibility.

It probably was. There were some FCC filings that noone could totally make out and inferred they must be either Supersonic/Incredible or something similar.

If mid June is the intended release date i'd say there is no way it hasnt or atleast isnt incredibly (no pun intended) close to being FCC approved.

Personally i dont think HTC employees would know when the Evo comes out. Its not up to HTC to release the phone its up to sprint, but hey u never know

Personally I have no clue. I'd welcome the phone whenever it gets here. I'm looking at mid-July at the earliest for my "upgrade". Sprint also has a contest for its "Premier" customers that will put EVOs into the hands of 10 lucky customers, who's mission will be to blog about the phone as all of its wonders. While all of this is happening, Sprint has to remain cognizant of the next iPhone launch, and not all Apple to steal any of the EVOs thunder.

Sprint usually always seems to stretch the original dates....so why not stretch the month.

I am going to guess it is a tuesday or a thrusday but most likely a tuesday all new things seem to come on a tuesday for example DVD's and EVO's so it will be May 25th or June 1st

I talked to three stores today and got three different answers. Basically, "The Shack doesn't do pre-orders", Huh? and "It won't be out until July".

My guess would be end of May (28th). No way it will be out around the 12th. The contest they are having for the "Blaze across America with 4G" doesn't end until the 9th and the winners will be the "first" to have the phone to go rambling on about it.

Not sure who told you that about the Pre, We all (Radioshack) knew that we wouldn't have that phone on release. If a Shack employee told you that, they were misinformed.
