No problem, you're not being dumb. We all start somewhere. I used uccw. I took a picture, cropped it small around the part of the picture I wanted, opened up uccw with a widget size 2x2, set the image as the background, added a layer that was labeled shape 1, went to style, selected hollow circle, selected effects as see through, and made the circle big enough to create a circle around the image.

Ok that's perfect!! Thank you so much. You've really helped. My only beef with this app now is that all the images are coming sideways any idea how I can fix this? I've even tried using images that were already sideways figuring the app would turn them right side up lol no such luck.

Hmm. Try turning "alpha" down on background to where its see through, go to the plus/minus sign, scroll down to image, check it. Go to the center bar and select image 1. Scroll over until you see the image button, click it and navigate to the image you want. See if it is sideways then.
