Post your HTC U11 review/initial thoughts here!

I have the Blackberry Hub+ on my S7 Edge. When my new U11 arrives, I may use the BB launcher and apps. Very happy with them for .99 per month.
Cents or dollars?

Edit: nevermind I see the decimal now, it is separate from the 99

My Amazing Silver arrived today. Gorgeous phone but... there's some kind of annoying, random, and audible squeal in the call quality, both whelm dialing and when talking. Pop out the sim, reinsert, no change. Pop the sim in my HTC 10, crystal clear. I'm really bummed about this.

Oh no! How awful! Perhaps contact HTC and send it back? I'm sure you'll be able to work things out!

Anyone find a good screen protector yet? The one I ordered from Amazon is in its way back already because it wouldn't stick down in the edges.

Good luck finding a tempered glass. I ordered a six pack of film ones that'll be here Friday or sometime since every glass one has bad halo from all the reviews and pics I've seen. It would be awesome if more companies would stop making these 2.5d screens. One thing I love about my G6, flat screen protected on day one with tempered glass.

Let us know how the film ones hold up, and how they change the feel of the screen.

Got mine last night. Still setting it up so unable to comment on much of a user experience. However, the Amazing Silver is really very blue.

It does look light blue in certain lights or angles. Beautiful phone. If I get the U11 it'll be either the blue or silver.

Initial thoughts, coming from an S7 Edge:

The Good:
  • Looks and feels great. The back is gorgeous.
  • Fingerprint scanner is so much faster and fastest I've ever used.
  • Very fast. Everything opens really quickly and very smooth to use.
  • Camera has really been impressive so far.
  • Sound is really good. Both from the phone and the included headphones.
  • Battery is very promising so far. 3000mAh worried me but it seems to be very well optimised.
  • Gestures are good, including edge sense. Very useful.

The Bad:
  • Tiny bits of screen bleed (I think it is anyway, though maybe it's the opposite to what I have). Bottom left, slight dark patches when on a white screen, but very slight.
  • The back and recents buttons are far too low down on the phone and the area you can press is too small. Makes it too much of a reach.
  • The stock apps look awful. HTC need to re-design them as they look about 4 years out of date. The email and dialler on the Samsung are so much nicer.
  • Charging doesn't seem as fast as the Samsung (both using their packaged chargers).
  • Auto Brightness is a bit wonky indoors.

I think that's all. Overall I'm happy enough with it.

Thank you for this easy to read review! Love the pros and cons list. :) Hopefully the quick charging gets better over time - I'm not very familiar with batteries, but I know they need a few cycles in order to reach their usual level of functionality. Could the same be true of quick charging, or is that kind of a stagnant thing?

After the first couple of days with the phone, the U11 is more to my tastes than my S8+. My hand doesn't cramp when holding it for extended periods of time, the Bluetooth works well and so do my steering wheel controls. Battery life is really good, camera is great although on snapchat the indoor shots look super grainy with the FF camera. Hopefully no problems with Android File Transfer for Mac as I haven't used it yet.

Snapchat will eventually release an update to fix it... I had the same problem with the HTC 10 at first. It's not the phone it's the app and something to do with the focus of the camera

I'm thinking about sending mine back. I'm not a stock Android guy. I like the added features that come with my G6 and even the S8+ I had before that. I don't like having to download apps to add features I like and use. If I want to hide pics on my G6 I can do so from the gallery app, on the U11 I need to download Keepsafe. Plus the AOD on the G6 is one of my favorite features.

Great! I was thinking there's no way it can be that big of a difference from the lack of OIS.

Google photos let u archive the pics and boost+ let u lock apps so no one can get into them

Not the same. I don't want all photos uploaded to Google photos. With my G6 I just go in to my gallery, lock what I want locked and call it good. No need to completely lock the gallery down.

is photos not the default gallery on the u11? I wasn't saying it was the same, I was just telling you an option if you use photos

Photos is the only gallery on the U11. My G6 comes with gallery with privacy features built in and google photos. If there are photos I don't want anyone seeing, I can lock them which makes them disappear from the gallery, but still be able to show pics to people without anything weird showing up lol. Just locking the photos app doesn't really do much if everything is archived right there when you open it up.
