I think my final opinion about this app is that (1) If you have to post, it's a lot easier to post with with the app than with Chrome but (2) If you want to browse around the forums it's a really horrible UI and I keep on getting dumped back out to the homescreen. So for browsing and checking forums, looking at your unread threads and things like that I recommend just using Chrome.

In case no one has said so, Welcome to the forums!
Something else that you can do is subscribe to particular threads. These are stored I. The Favorites tab at the top. You can subscribe to individual threads or entire topics. Same as before, hit menu then subscribe.
If you are on a lot, you should get the hang of it quickly.
Hope to see you more in the forums!

Good feedback, Doug. Are you looking for something like the mobile version on Chrome?

I will admit, I log on under chrome to peek at who is leading top posters, and check notifications.

It would be nice to have a UI to go up one level after reading a post. And a way to see my threads, for example. I keep trying to use the native return button, but often just get bumped out of the app and end up at the home screen.

Thanks,

Doug

Getting back to this. After using the app to go to a post to read it, or reply, there really isn't any UI for moving around at all, and seeing other threads, or seeing a list of my threads, is there? Basically, if you follow a link in email to go to a post you are stuck in that thread from what I can see. Or am I missing something.

In the AC Forums thread, the only way I know of to see your threads is to tap the upper right More button, select your Profile, then tap My Posts. Unfortunately, it only shows your 20 most recent posts.

The Android Central App (the one that also includes the news stories) is generally better--you get the option to see "Participated Threads," which I think goes back as far as the last 200 threads you've participated in. Check it out!

To be honest, either Android App is best if replying to a message because the Android Chrome reply field is difficult to input in at this site. However neither app is good for just looking around and catching up on what's happening. I find both incredibly hard to get around in, and always ending getting jumped out back to the home screen. So for just seeing what's happening and generally catching up, like I'm doing now, I just do in on my computer instead of on a mobile device.

It's important for the Android Central App developer to be aware of feedback like yours, because he's actually quite responsive, and continues to improve the app. We've all been able to see your progress with Android so far with your very detailed and well-written posts, and someone in your position is exactly the kind of person whose issues and concerns should be brought to light, since you're still in the process of getting accustomed to Android. Post your concerns about the Android Central App in this forum: http://forums.androidcentral.com/android-central-apps/

As I'm getting more used to the Android Central app I'm appreciating it more. I just recently discovered the tiny little triangle that lets you find the thread you participated in.

Nothing really new to report. Just that I'm finding it easier to use.

I wish I could figure out all the punctuation for voice dictation, but that's for another topic.
