Power Button CRACK? Check your phone!!

My pre had the notorious 'usb flange' crack, and sprint swapped it out with a refurb even though i was past my 30 days.

My question is I bought my EVO at BB, and they (BB) say after 30 days go to the carrier...not sure what Sprint does in that case???

see thats my problem. Im OCD with stuff like that. It will bug me. I keep peeling the skin off to look at it now, but hate to waste time and effort to get a new phone and have it do it again or have worse problems.

I did go to my original pre-order store. The Manager said that he wasn't aware of this issue, took my phone to talk to his techs. I looked at the tech room, about 6 were fondling my defenseless phone like a stripper at a bachelor party. Everyone wanted to get a first hand look at the "defect".. My Poor girl, when I got her back I wiped her down and put her clothes back on.. Manager says, ok I am gonna put you down on the new replacement waiting list.

No crack on mine but I don't use the power button much. I use the app. No Lock and am able to turn my screen on with the volume button or the power button. Also have a case on the phone.

hardware version 0003 - I have one hairline crack that runs from the edge of the power button to the front of the case and another crack that seems to be starting from the power button.

i dropped the device once onto very soft carpet, that's it.

the crack doesn't bother me unless the case starts to separate from the phone, then i'll be a bit upset

if there is a defect in these cases, i hope HTC stands behind their hardware. seems to be pretty rare these days though.

Have the crack now too. Launch week EVO. Pretty sure this is a recent development. I do not use a case but I do use the Seidio spring clip holster.

Looking at the crack it's pretty obvious that it's caused by pressing the power button with my right index finger. The plastic is too thin there. Yet another hardware defect (also have the screen lift/light leakage).

I now have the power button crack, AND the volume button crack. I do not think this is from pressing too hard, because even if I press now, there is no give. Thinking about using the manufacturers warranty in a month or two.

Interesting. I have a crack but never noticed it before because it is very small and hard to see. I have been using a body glove case since day 1 as well. Just my thoughts. Ultimately, it doesn't bother me much at all.

I never really pushed it, but I called my local store that was supposed to be giving me my advanced replacement and they never got it supposedly. Dude tried to then go back on not replacing it, but I said it was already approved.
He said he put me on the list and I never bothered since because I know its going to be a waste unless i decide to be a prick and push the issue.

I was using the white accent shield for a month before I got the HTC slip case. I wonder if the accent shield maybe putting pressure on it has anything to do with it ?

wow. I have the same crack...pretty gay. I also bought a case when I bought it and never took it off. and still cracked....

Yep, that is exactly where I have a tiny crack in the plastic as well. Interesting.

could be a weak pressure point. that sounds like the only conclusion I can guess when the phone was never dropped.

I got it too. Noticed it a couple days ago. I even have a fine crack on the right side going from the bottom edge of the volume button to the screen. Never been dropped either. I also don't use a case. Probably just the weakest points in the molding.
