Power Button issues?

Hey, I am new to Android Central after just getting my Transformer. I have been using a HTC desire for a while, and never had real issues. The Transformer, though a beautiful machine, has some weird problem and I wanted to ask you guys if anyone has the same problem (e.g. it might be software related) or whether I just have faulty machine.

My problem is that the power on/off button only works very rarely. At the beginning, it worked only 1 of 2 times, now sometimes it doesn't wake or go to sleep at all. My 'workaround' is putting the TF into the dock (I've got the bundle) and press the wake/sleep button there. Obviously that is not really a long-term solution. However, as the button makes an audible click and works once in a while, I have the fear that it might be software related and that I installed something that creates the problems there.

So, anyone else got similar issues?

Hi, i just got an asus tf101 and have found out that i have press my power button twice just to get it to come on. Sometimes it takes 3 presses, just because i dont know if i properly pressed it the first time or not. I assumed they all did this, but if they dont, then i should start claiming an RMA now, before its too late.

Mine as well

Got my eee pad 2 1/2 weeks ago. It first showed a power button problem after a week and now won't turn on at all. Its got to go back!:(

Now turning on again

Spoke to Asus about the power button problem. The advice was a reset. They said hold the power button for 20 seconds, release and give it a short press. After about 10 seconds it came to life and started booting.:)

So it seems it isn't a faulty power button, but some deep sleep issue that I have read about elsewhere. Some people are reporting that upgrading Android to 3.1 is fixing the problem. I have now upgraded and will see how I get on.

I had this same issue when I first got my TF. I upgraded to 3.1 3 days later and haven't had the issue since.

I had an issue with my power button. For me if I depressed the button really hard I could get it to work consistently. That was not okay in my opinion so I returned the unit and got a new one. My current machine works fine. Might be just a bad contact or switch.
