Power/Sleep button on the fritz. Can I disable it all together?

Well, about a month ago my power/ sleep button starting acting up. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it doesn't work at all. But, most of the time it does what it wants. It will just randomly turn the screen on or off or long press to the menu for powering down etc. I searched google and found that this is a pretty common problem and also found a website that will replace the button. But my plan is up soon, so I'm thinking about going to t-mobile and getting their sgsII. But anyways, is there an app or some way I can disable the button all together? Right now I'm using no lock and screen off to turn the screen on and off.

I cleaned mine out with a pocket knife and a can of compressed air ($5 at Wal-Mart) and have not had a problem since.

Well, I wish I could say I fixed it and will keep this phone forever, but I ordered me a gsm razr yesterday. Just sucks I'll be offshore when it comes in.
