Powerbank vs smartphone battery

Does a power bank battery degrade like a smartphone battery? Or are they entirely different things?

They degrade in the same way, both use the same battery tech with lithium ion.

That was probably a defective powerbank, then. 1 month is waaaaaay too quick.
