I'm teaching a class on Monday, and would like to be able to show a PowerPoint presentation on my TV through my S5 using Chromecast.

Is there a reliable way to do this that isn't going to crash every couple of slides?

I did a little googling, and it seems the suggested method is to have the file in my Google drive and cast it from a desktop. There's gotta be a reliable way to cast it directly from my Android.

Any suggestions?

Do you have a decent power point app for your phone. Can you run the presentation from it completely.

You could try the beta screen cast functionality provided in the last chromecast app update. The S5 is one of the supported.

I have not tried going that route yet. Any suggestions for a PPT slide viewer app?

So far the only thing I've done that's worked well is casting the PPT through Chrome on my laptop (file is in Google drive) and using TeamViewer to make my phone a remote to my laptop. Ideally I'd like to not even use my laptop, just my S5.

I thought you already had a good app. Unfortunately I won't be much help there. I haven't had a need for doing power point on my mobile devices, so have never tried it. There are several out there though. I would suggest trying them and see how well they display the presentation. My Note 3 comes with Polaris which looks like it would support it. You can also try Quickoffice.

You can try Google Slides. It'll work for PowerPoint presentations.

I was going to suggest this as well.

The only issue you may run into is that if you are converting from Power Point to Slides, you may lose some formatting.. Other than that will be fine. I ran into an issue at work converting PP to Slides - lost some background images and formatting, just had to fix it up and was good to go.

If you create right from Slides though, no issue.

Seems that the Google Documents, Sheets, etc.. Don't convert 100% of the MS stuff, but pretty close.
