Pre order phones vs waiting

The question popped into my head this evening as I was watching review videos on the s8 plus long term review (for the wife next phone) and it was flossy carter that made the comment. He commented on one regret he has with getting a pre order phone vs waiting a bit after they came out is he usually has some bugs that stick around.

Is this normally something we run into on early version devices? Do they usually quietly released revised versions of these a bit later to fix some nagging issues that updates won't fix?

I've only pre ordered one device before, the note 7, obviously we know it's history there. And I have a pre order in the note 8 waiting for me to pick up. Does anyone have regrets jumping in first to test the waters? Outside of the obvious major note 7 issue, overall how is your experience with a pre order device?

I have no fears about preordering. As long as Samsung keeps doing promotions, I'll keep preordering. I preordered the Note 7 too, and have no regrets about that. The phones were fine for 99.99% of us. I have had my Note 8 over a week and haven't encountered any issues, so no reason not to preorder in my opinion.
