That's odd. I went to my usual corporate store last night to talk data plans, and the clueless rep who also told me that he is "eagerly awaiting the Galaxy Nexus as a work phone for himself" said that the phone will not be out until at least January or February of 2012. lol

I know employees are not able to use their discount and upgrade right away so maybe that is when employees are allowed to use their discounts to buy one. I know when the i4 launched vzw employees had to wait awhile before they could get one for their work line.

Yeah, most likely. He mentioned a link that is available for them to order it as a work phone, but it's not "clickable" yet.

The nice thing is, he told me that if I decide to buy the phone at full retail and pay month per month, that I will lock in the double data plan for as long as I stay with them.

I am buying full retail but am grandfathered in with unlimited data.

My thoughts exactly. Standing in line on a Friday for a phone most people don't even know exists. Especially without a pre-order, not a whole lot of people will be aware. The commercial probably won't run til Friday at the earliest.

Does anyone know how long it takes for Amazon to get new phones? Do they have them in stock at the same time? If I could, I'd rather get the phone from Amazon to avoid paying tax, but at the same time I want to get the phone in time to get the double data promotion.

I called three Verizon locations in the Chicago suburb area.

1.) said 10th or 11th

2.) Said "don't know not announced"

3.) Said "I think this week do u want me to call you when I find out for sure?"

Of course I said sure. Just a heads up on what I learned. Negrielectronics is getting their shipment of Verizon nexus phones on the 9th so I would be baffled if Verizon itself didn't have them very near the same time.

I'm sure they arebgomna market this to death if not I'm sure Samsung will be making commercials for it like the s2 so.

Be a waste of time and money if they quitely release it. That would be dumb.

I waited outside on launch for the Xoom. I was the first.... and the only one at a corporate store. This will be the same I'm sure. It will get big after time but this won't be a iPhone launch deal. Even when I got my X they only had about 80 waiting outside but that was a Droid branded phone.

I have not seen any commercials on tv. IF they are on the web I do not consider them to be airing. I see a ton of rezound commercials among others but no nexus.

I just got off the phone with my local VZ wireless. Rep told me I couldnt preorder, asked if I came into the store if I could put it on hold and he said they dont do that. Then said that theyre not expecting the launch to be too crazy but come in in the morning to get one. Confused- I said what are you talking about tomorrow morning?? and he said no its releasing on the Thurs, the 8th. The guy sounded pretty knowledgeable and helpful, when I asked if they had any in stock he said I had to come into the store, he wasnt gonna give me that info over the phone, I guess he wants to sell me a rezound today. Ya I know virgin post so no cred but just reporting what they told me and I dont think its a real big surprise anymore w/ everything thats come out over the last 24 hours

FIngers Crossed for my first Android device Ive been installing new roms on my wifes lg optimus just so Ill have stuff to troubleshoot to keep me off the nexus forums 5x a day.

They may just be trying to protect themselves from someone recording the conversation over the phone and putting it on a site or something like this.

When I got my x on launch day there was about 10 people in store, and that was the biggest I have seen for an android phone. The same area when the bb storm launched had about 30 people or so. I guess it helps that there is 5 stores within a 15 mile radius.
