Pre-Orders/Stores that Confirm Availability

Reserved mine

I went to my local Verizon reseller today to ask what's up with the Galaxy Nexus and if they had a demo unit I could check out. The first words out of the rep's mouth were, "So you're the one who calls every morning!" They didn't have a demo unit or any in the back. However, they did let me reserve one. The manager came out and personally told me they're expecting a shipment of GNexes on Monday. Here's the weird part: they're only set to get two devices in. Does Verizon have ANY faith in this device? I asked after I reserved and was told Monday if they would actually be allowed to sell it to me as soon as it arrives. They responded with, "As long as Verizon makes it official, we can sell it." Fingers crossed for Monday, but I don't think they'll be able to sell it until Thursday or Friday.

Oh yeah, mods and admins, please move or merge my thread. Wasn't sure which thread I should post this in.

Costco: Any word on availability?

I'll be calling Costco in the morning (ATL metro area) to see if I can score one the same day as everyone else with some accessories to boot.

I spoke with the manager, and he told me that they also do what Best Buy can do, which is add a 9.99 line to a family plan, put a dummy phone there, and I can use the upgrade for that line even though my line isn't elligible for an upgrade right now. After my Fascinate was stolen in August (which, hilariously JUST got gingerbread like, 2 minutes ago), I've been waiting for the GN. Just wanted to see if anyone has checked the wholesale club route and gotten word back.

Me too, Thursday or Friday is more logical. You can't criticise me for being optimistic though, can you?

I know I don't have many posts here, so I can understand flaming a "noob" for heresay. I stopped by my local VZW store today and the manager admitted that, yes, they did have stock in the back. I asked if they had a demo. They said not one activated yet, but did bring the fake plastic display version out for me to fondle. The curve is SO sexy and doesn't feel too big at all. He said to drop by Monday morning and was pretty sure I could walk out with one. I hopped by Best Buy afterwards. Asked if they had it in stock. Young college kid said sure, but his manager overheard and said it wasn't able to be sold until Sunday. We'll see... Figure I'll be disappointed again. 15th is sounding pretty solid.

I posted this in another thread but I stopped by 3 Verizon stores on the way home from my rotations tonight and all 3 told me that the word now is a release on the 12th........so we will see.

My default upgrade is May but I was bumped up as being elgible a couple of months ago on Verizon when they did the promo or whatever... if I go somewhere else they won't be able to sell to me at the upgrade price? I didn't think about that. I wonder if Costco can?

It depends on weather they actually edited your upgrade date or weather they just annotated your account to allow an early upgrade. If the former then the yes an indirect retailer may have it show up in their system, but that is not guaranteed since they all use a little different systems. If it is just a note in your account then no.

That's not uncommon for an indirect retailer. Where I work we only get two or three of new phons, sometimes only one. Don't read too much into that. Corporate stores get them first and what's left trickles down to indirect based upon sales numbers.

You don just add a line, you add data at $30 a month ehich in even unlimited anymore, 2 year contract and your paying
$30x24=$720
$10x24=$240
$960

$350 -$10 a month to cancel a phone is a much better route or even just buying It outright

Once you put in the dummy phone on the extra line you don't have to pay the 30 dollars for the data plan

Yep, think if it as financing the phone over two years and you can always pay the smaller ETF after a few months if you get tired of it.

Put a non smartphone on the line, remove any extraneous features (data, texting, insurance, enhanced/visual voice-mail, etc) turn the phone off and leave it in a drawer and you dont have to worry about getting any extra fees. It basically costs yoou about $13/month with taxes and fees.

Works great as long as you dont buy from a reseller with strings requiring you to leave the same phone and/or features on the line for at least 6 months like Wirefly, Let'sTalk and Amasonwireless.

yep, the difference is Apple can get a product on the market rather quickly and without much hiccup........Google has yet to do this.
