Predictions: When will the Sprint GNex be released?

why waste money on an antiquated Wimax phone? yes Wimax still works but it is yesterday's technology. it is obsolete before you take it out of the box. Sprint is offering us NOTHING to upgrade to. Sprint is offering NOTHING for new customers. Sprint should release the LTE G-Nex. otherwise it is STUPID for anyone to buy a Sprint Android phone today. it's like buying a VCR and you know DVDs are already out. DUMB DUMB DUMB.

Hesse release the G-Nex already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sprint made a big agreement to sell X number of iphones. I believe they are waiting as long as possible to sell new android phones. 99% of cell phone users know nothing about what's coming out next. They see what's in the store and buy it. In the mean time the 1% of us that read blogs and check out what's coming down the pipe will have to suffer.

Maybe because a chunk of this community upgrade their phones on a 1 year cycle anyway. And when exactly will LTE be ready at the same coverage as Wimax?

Right, the EVO and Wimax bs all over again.

1 year cycle? oh really? then why are you and i still and many still using an OG EVO? and now that Sprint upgrades are every 22+ months i'm not so sure. and if you plan on selling your used Wimax phone 12+ months from now - who's going to want to buy it and for how much? how will antiquated technology hold its value? think about it.

There is actually a very good and valid reason to. If you live in an area that already has WiMax, then you will have a 4G phone with a functioning 4G network, whereas if you live in a WiMax area and you get an LTE phone you need to wait up to two years to get LTE in your area. That being said, that isn't that many areas/people that actually have a reason to buy a wimax phone.

Actually a horrible analogy. The DVD was released in 95. It wasn't until years later that they caught on since at the time you still needed a VCR if you wanted to record a show you were going to miss. TiVo came out around 99 and weren't out DVD-Rs until 05 (according to wikipedia). Many people at this time didn't buy DVD players because they were much more expensive and there wasn't much coming out in DVD (same as there isn't much in the way of 3D movies being released right now)*. The much better analogy would be buying an HD-DVD player after Blu-Ray one the HD war.

*I've still heard reasons why VHS is better then DVD recently such as a minor scratch can make a DVD useless while minor damage to the tape makes only a second or so. And I've found people who claim the video quality is better (sort of like some people prefer the sound of vinyl to cd). But all of these things I have heard other people claim and never noticed myself (well other then the damage bit)

you get the point.

WiMax will be active until at least 2015 so if you get a phone in 2012 and upgrade in 2 years to an LTE, you will be fine.
As for me, I am in the Atlanta area, which will be one of the first to get 4G LTE, so I am getting the Galaxy Nexus when it arrives.
My upgrade is not until 9/01/12 so I am forced to be patient.
If it comes out soon, the development community will have all the info on the tips, tricks and traps by the time I am allowed to buy the phone.
So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

Just my $.02

Mav.

Frankly, I am not upgrading now not because this phone is not yet out, but because there are no compelling reasons to do so.

What will it take for me to upgrade? Decent connectivity. Sprint could sell me an LTE phone tomorrow, but what good would it do? It will probably take them years to build this network out.

I hope they prove me wrong.

I went in to Best Buy to look at phones and see if by chance the employees might know something, no luck. The person who was working was a complete moron claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S 2 was the same phone as the Nexus Galaxy and as such Sprint already had the phone and wouldn't be getting it...
Grr... why can't Sprint release new phones yet? I want to give them money but they aren't letting me.

I love when I go to a store and know more about the phones than the employes!

It makes me want to go into homicidal rages personally. It is one thing for a random person not to know something, but if your job is X, you should know about X.

Anyone think Dan Hesse will announce the Sprint Galaxy Nexus at Sprint's MWC keynote on March 1st? I sure hope so.

maybe but i think it would be pretty anticlimactic for him to do so.

Verizon has the G-Nex and AT&T has the G-Note. Sprint customers REALLY need something NOW. i love Sprint's coverage, service, pricing, unlimited plans, and overall value proposition. and their phone selection had been pretty good - the OG EVO was a revolutionary groundbreaker. but Sprint's phone selection ever since then has been atrocious.

Me too. I love Sprint. I've been with them for 12+ years. But come on...they are just about to lose me. For a few hours yesterday I was changing to AT&T to get the HTC One X. Major moment of weakness before i fell in love with the GNex again.

GET OFF YOUR ASS SPRINT!!!

HTC Jewel Tipped as Among First Sprint LTE Phones

Now that AT&T's lined up to get the just-revealed One X, and T-Mobile's taken claim to the One S (with Verizon always fed a steady stream of quality hardware), HTC's plans for Sprint seem to be up in the air, especially with the once cutting-edge EVO 3D closing in on its one-year launch anniversary. Well we've now learned from a trusted source that a high-end handset is in fact on its way to Sprint from the House of One, and it's codenamed the HTC Jewel.

So, what is the chance that Sprint will pull a Verizon and just release the Nexus with no prior announcement of date? Anyone think there is even a sliver of a chance that Gekko's original estimated release date might still be correct?

Interesting.... Anybody think they would buy the new HTC One X sprint version (Known as maybe the EVO LTE or EVO 4G LTE) over the GNex?

I use my camera ALL THE TIME. I took over 1,800 pics on my phone last year. So the ONE X got me excited. But the pure android experiance gets me excited too. ugggggg!

no i'm sticking with the G-Nex. pure sleek Android ICS with no skins and no bloatware is what i want.
