This was posted today (03/19) which stokes the fire about the April 15th release rumor:

Sprint's Samsung Galaxy Nexus, LG Viper Confirmed To Release On April 15th: Report - Gadgetian

Good info on the LTE and battery savings along with the the "Self Discovery" mode update.

Lookin' awful good. :D

Did anyone else look at the specs from Gadgetian? I know it says the're "Subject To Change Without Any Prior Notice," but I'm starting to get excited about the upgrades:

1. 1.5 GHz dual-core processor (already talked about)
2. An F-ing WiMAX radio! Functional "4G" data at release in many markets, including my own.
3. Swype -- I've used it on a couple friends' phones, and it's nice and accurate.
4. Google Wallet -- we all knew this, but I'm still excited about it.

Just 25 days, if the rumors are true!

Gekko,
You can use the Best Buy phone freedom gift card for the phone you purchase that day, or for anything else in the store. BUT, you only receive the gift card IF you are processing an Upgrade(contract renewal, 2years) OR porting a number from another carrier and signing a 2year agreement with a new, post-paid service provider(i.e. Sprint, Verizon, ATT, TMO). Customers DO NOT receive the phone freedom gift card if they purchase a phone at full retail price.

You won't have Wimax on the Galaxy Nexus. They've been saying since the start that it will be the first phone with 4G LTE service, the gadgetian specs you linked don't mention a wimax radio either. For a network they are trying to phase out they won't be including it in their new flagship phone.

No, the specs linked to quite clearly state that on the third/fourth live of the table that the 4G radio(s) is WiMax and LTE. This makes sense, since WiMax isn't getting shut down until ~2015 as I recall, and is deployed much more so then LTE is at the current moment. But you seem to understand this a bit as you said "phase out" and not "quit cold turkey". The correct way to phase out a network would be to stop selling phones with only WiMax, and sell LTE/WiMax devices until about the time when all the current WiMax locations get LTE. Once there is no longer an area covered by only WiMax, then you stop selling WiMax/LTE devices and give a year or so before shutting the WiMax down.

Now, is this going to happen? I'm guessing not, but that would be the correct way to phase out WiMax.

Not much talk about the 1.5GHz processor bump on the Sprint version as opposed to the 1.2GHz processor on all other versions.

This will take a little sting out of waiting 5 months for this phone. You think the verizon folks will be all up in arms?

I would guess it is the same processor just clocked differently. The Evo 3d stock is underclocked to 1.2. It can easily overclocked to 1.5. To me there is no difference between the two. You might notice a difference in benchmarks but nothing really in normal use.

More of the same... spoke with a Pittsburgh Sprint ASM(Area Sales Manager) today, he said definitely April for GNEX. While he speculated the 15th as launch day, he does not know the specific day for sure. Can't come soon enough, 700 dollars burning a hole...

Anyone having second thoughts now that the One X will be announced? Even if it's a few months away it somehow makes sense to go from my OG Evo 4G to the "new" Evo...

..Then again... Galaxy Nexus is a Nexus!!

Also: did not intend this post as a vanilla android vs sense 4.0 debate

Yup. I use the camera on my phone ALL the time. It is really the only thing I keep second guessing myself on when it comes to the GNex. April 4th will be interesting to see what Sprint says about the "One X".

And.... Rumor is June 10th for the "One X". That seems so far away when compared to April 15th

No second thoughts here.
The camera thing is not a deal breaker with me.
I am gonna rock the Galaxy Nexus all the way.

Just over 3 weeks away as long as the rumored April 15th release date does not change.

Mav.

I'm starting to think the nexus might not be my next phone. It is starting to get very difficult to make a decision. Knowing the Nexus will be 5 months old when it comes out. Also hearing that the Nexus battery life isn't great and the camera is sub par too. Not sure I want to move to Samsung either.

My last 7 phones have been HTC and the one x looks excellent! I haven't been a big camera user but I think that is due to the camera's always being poor. Maybe with the new camera I would take more pictures. I like that the compensative buttons are not part of the screen. Call me old fashion but if the buttons are going to be there 97% of the time make them separate from the screen.

Then there is also the Not and the gsIII. Being a big guy and using my phone to read a lot the Note sounds like a great phone (htc please make a competitor to this). I'm staying with sprint so who knows if or when these phones will be out.

It will be hard to be patient and choose the best phone! Hopefully I just win a Nexus so I don't need to make a decision :D

every time i see bloatware or Sense on my EVO or am forced to update the unwanted bloatware on my EVO reinforces my decision to get the G-Nex.

there's only one Nexus.

I have Nexus blinders on. It will be Galaxy Nexus, and then the Nexus after that, and so on...

There are those who buy phones just to have the newest phone on the market, and then there are those who buy phones that have the features they need.

Plus i get around the whole upgrade non-sense, so i can get whatever phone i want, whenever i want it, therefore i don't need to beat myself up on deciding when to use my upgrade.

I'm getting the Galaxy Nexus no matter what too. I've been wanting this phone for a long time and will get it on launch day. I'm with Gekko on wanting pure Google and no bloat. It may not be the top of the hardware phone but it's still awesome!

Yep. Being on 3 different android phones and all 3 diff ways of doing things, its come very clear to me. So far my 3 devices I've owned.. Moto droid x (motoblur /barf), HTC Evo 3d with its sense (which made no sense and bloated my experience), and a Samsung Epic 4g that my wife uses that I like more then my own evo 3d, its running CM 9 beta 1 now, but its stock touchwiz (touchjiz) interface was just as bad as blur.... All in all, camera aside as I keep to my original post/replies.. Its a nexus, and only a nexus, unless its got a stock/aosp build on it.

With all the problems the Verizon version has had I think ill wait and shop around. Plus the whole selling point of it is supposed to be quick updates and they haven't even updatedit to 4.0.5 yet while there are other phones that already have it. And the last Nexus still doesn't even have ICS yet. So that whole fast updates thing doesn't really sway me much. If i'm gonna waste an upgrade, especially considering that ill have to wait the whole 2 years to get another one now, it most definitely isn't gonna be on a phone that randomly cuts off on its own, has the data drop bug, crappy battery and a crappy camera so i'm going to wait and see what the next quarter brings.
