Predictions: When will the Sprint GNex be released?

You mean won't have the 4470, GNEX variants currently have 4460. It is looking like that will be a letdown, you are right, but hopefully we will know soon enough.

I hope these specs aren't true. Why would I want 6 month old tech.? I mean the nexus is great but we have to wait almost half a year!! Google really needs to get all the nexus devices released on the same carriers at the same time. It would be great if it had a better processor and better camera. But i guess we will just have to wait and see.

Ohh wow, Thanks for clearing that up :)

The 4470 made my decision very easy, the 4460 makes this a bit harder to commit 2 years to.

Intereasting.
From comments I have read, it does not seem that people like them very much.
Am I not un-wrong?

In past iterations of Android, they were more 'in your face' about it. But it seems that after Honeycomb, the manufacturers have toned down their skins and have them more subtle and keep the most of the same UI elements as stock.

will you really see a real world difference in a 4460 vs. 4470? is this really a big deal in the real world? how and why?

In terms of real world processing, no, you won't see much difference. I think more people(myself included) were excited at the prospect of the PowerVR SGX 544 gpu that the 4470 brings with it. While not a huge leap over the 300mhz variant of the 540 that is in the GNex, the 544 has around 15-20% higher triangle fill rate when clocked the same, and I believe direct x 9.0 compatibility thrown in, along with just being a much newer chip variation(2010 instead of 2007).
I never reallly thought they would swap SoCs on the same nexus series, but it is nice to dream, and we are not fully out of the dark yet(fingers crossed).

You know what.....I don't even care if its the same as Verizon's. Its pure Google which means its mine. You buy a Nexus for the software experience not the hardware. :)

Those of you waiting for this phone may want to read any forum you can regarding the Verizon version of it before you get too excited because it runs the exact same technology. The RF section and coverage problems are not going to get any better on Sprint. Additionally I believe it will be worse and that a great many of you are going to be highly disappointed. I hope I'm wrong for you. I'm just advising you to exercise due diligence with an open mind and be willing to act if you begin to see the problems experienced by Verizon owners. Good luck.

That used to not be the case. When nexus came out it was meant to test next Gen hardware and os. And now its only software which is ashamed.

Good info.
As far as I know, Sprint still offers a 30 day return policy so if the phone does not meet anyone's satisfaction, it can be sent back.
I have done that once before and it was easy to do and not a problem.

Without having to wade deep into those forums, what are the problems that the Verizon version is/was having?
Thanks.

Good point. But is there no reason to think Sprint hasn't factored any of this into its build?

I own a Nexus s 4g and when chrome came out I was like, great, this app should be awesome. But the Nexus s doesn't have the power to keep up with chrome. I think 300mhz and a 15% faster GPU would be perfect for my nexus s, so I brought that logic over to the Gnex. What if in a year there is this new Jelly Bean only app that barely works on my Galaxy Nexus, and all I need is 300mhz and a slightly faster GPU to make it shine. It happened before and I'd feel better about it not happening again if the sprint one had the 4470.

you're overthinking this way too hard and way too far ahead IMO.

I got blasted for thinking that reading these forums could help me decided on a device so I'd rather not lead you in your analysis but I'll include the link I was in on. Just simply recommending you check on it before you make your 2 year commitments :-)
