Predictions: When will the Sprint GNex be released?

Do you guys think the reason we don't have any official info on the release date, is because Sprint is going to sell it just for a niche crowd...namely us. With the impending release of the EVO LTE, I do believe most people are going to get instead instead of the Nexus. Thoughts?

I think you have a valid point. I am pretty sure Sprint would not be making that much money per handset sold as it may make from say the evoke 4g lte. Secondly the hardware is 6 months old on the galaxy nexus which js a lifetime in the Android ecosystem.

The Nexus S launch for sprint was also very low profile. I'm not very surprised.

How did that go?
The phone just became available one day w/o an announcement?
A few days notice?
Thanks in advance.

The EVO info has taken the Galaxy Nexus's space on Sprint's website, so low profile looks like what they may be aiming for.
Any info would be great to have.

There was a week or two heads up on launch date, small poster in store, and there was a TV commercial right around launch.

People didn't really know about the nexus s, but Verizon has raised awareness with their commercials for the galaxy nexus (which were mostly google+ commercials, but that's another story) so we'll see how high profile the launch is.

There is hope.

Now, that the date is a little clearer, i was thinking what would be a good price point for this device? If the Evo 4G LTE is coming for $199, i wouldnt be comfortable paying more than $99 for this device.
What do you think?

I'm guessing it'll be $199, that's how the NS4G was priced (even with the EVO3D being released a month later) but in 4 or 5 months it'll drop down.

Hmm.. i think that would adversely affect the sales of the device? Not for the enthusiasts but for the general public. I dont know but i am nervous for the sales of this device if the price point remains the same as the Evo 4G LTE. I dont think it would be a good move.. :(

I really doubt the general public looks at the specs of these phones, let alone understands them.

They're going to price this phone at the highest price they think they can get people to pay for it. That's how life/business works.

He's totally right, they didn't mention anything about the specs on the poster. It'll be $199.99 on a new 2 year...almost guaranteed.

We can always hope. My idealistic side still hopes its around $99 :p though I think you could be right. Never know..

How much is it at Verizon?

It started out at $299 at launch. It's presently quite a bit less than that now.

I'd put money on Sprint having it for $199 at launch (maybe $179 if we are lucky), but then I see it being more discounted in a few months.

Yep price drops always happen to phones that have been on the market for awhile. Get rid of the old bring in the new. Hopefully sprint doesn't rape u on cost most likely 199$ sounds about right for a phone this old.

199 actually seems pretty dumb if you want it to fly off the shelves considering its known and just around the corner competition. At 99 bucks this becomes a HUGE value even w/o LTE lit up.

IMO, Sprint is more focused on getting the new EVO to fly off the shelves. That's their flagship phone. The Nexus is just another phone they carry in their lineup. Last year was the same way, the NS4G was launched with very little fanfare (and at the same $199 pricepoint even though at the time it wasn't the top end phone specwise). Not that I agree with their thinking but it's just the way it has been.

I too hope it starts out at $199.99 USD. Any less will be gravy.
Then with Best Buys Phone Freedom discount of $50, it makes it even better. :-$

You can bet I will try and get to a Sprint store this Sunday to see if the GN stuff is up.
Then, just one more week.

Pretty soon this forum will have a Rooting, Roms and Hacks section along with a bunch of threads with Tips, Tricks and Traps.

Hope everyone grabs this phone and sticks around. :D
