Predictions: When will the Sprint GNex be released?

As has been pointed out with the release of the Gnex on Verizon, this thing can have a wonky 4G radio. Since Sprint LTE will not be turned on at release how will we know if the radio sucks?

Different radio should give a different (hopefully better) result.
I would like to think that Samsung and Sprint have monitored the Verizon release snafus and have made the appropriate adjustments and corrections.
I still have a little faith that things like this occur.

I played with a co-workers Nexus (GSM) all day today....i am leaning toward the Nexus again. The phone is just so sexy.

This just doesn't seem right to me. If the gnex is really coming out the 22nd then that means they wont have a pre order period for the phone. Why would you have pre orders for the LG Viper but not the flagship gnex? Plus, correct me if I'm wrong but Sprint said in they're announcement that the Viper is the first 4g LTE phone, to me that most certainly shoots down the chance of the nexus coming out the 15th. If they were to release it the same day (the 22nd) then I think they would have announced pre orders for both phones at the same time and said that the viper and nexus were then first 4g phoneS, plural not singular.

The probable reason for the Viper pre-orders is to lock in as many sales as they can for the lower end phone before the higher-end one is released. It is possible they'll both be the 22nd, but they'll have already "sold" to the average consumer the lower end phone before they realize there's a better one they could have had.

I don't know why everything thinks this is all such a big deal. To those who are going to buy the Viper, they weren't going to buy the Galaxy. Sprint isn't heavily advertising the Galaxy Nexus, because it's niche has the smallest impact of the entire lineup, current, past, future.

You all need to take a marketing course or something. The G-Nex ISN'T a mainstream device, isn't going to make or break carrier sales, never was, never intended to do so. It's just "another" option.

Mainstream is Galaxy S series, Mainstream is HTC flagship. BTW, the G-NEX, is NOT a flagship device! Mainstream is also price point, and anything under $100, is mainstream!

Mainstream = carrier focus, period.

The G-Nex could be released right now, and no one would no about it! Sprint just doesn't care, and they don't need to, as it's not going to make or break them.

Samsung ALSO could not care less. They have millions of Galaxy S series devices moving out of their doors by the second.

LOOK AT THE BIG PICUTRE - AND THEN UNDERSTAND IT!

End of rant:cool:

Both good points.
This is the first phone I planned to buy that had not come out yet so I have been tracking its' progress.
Rather surprised that they are keeping the G-Nex on the downlow but the Viper will most likely make more for Sprint than the Nexus will.
The Nexus is probably highly subsidized.

As long as I can get one when it comes out, hopefully on the 22nd, I will be happy.
If I don't win one, of course. ;)

Honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of legal gag-order on the device due to initial exclusivity with Verizon.

These carrier giants DON'T play nice with each other. Just look at the patent disputes over the past 18 months for comparison on what's going on in that world.

Please tell me why I can pre order a Viper but not a Nexus?!?! :banghead::mad:

If the nexus doesn't have a pre order does this become first come first serve? Am I going to find myself sitting infront of a Sprint store on the 22nd a few hours before it opens?

Yes.

That won't be necessary. People are holding their pennies for the EVO.

I really doubt there will be lines at the stores for this phone. If your store has stock launch day and you go that morning you shouldn't have a problem getting one.
