Preferred Keyboard

I prefer the look, feel, key placement etc. of Samsung keyboard. However, as others have mentioned autocorrect and predictive text isn't great on Samsung's keyboard. I also hate where Samsung puts symbols/punctuation. I'm reluctantly using gboard for those reasons.

I have been using Samsung keyboard for a week. While I really like the options and customization, I just can't get it to work properly with predictive text and character spacing.

BB could make a few bucks by selling it in the Play store. It's odd that other of their apps are available but the keyboard isn't.

You can find the keyboard apk on CrackBerry or Google, it still works fine. I have a pixel 6 with Android 12, no problems

I have been using GBoard for years also. I briefly tried the Samsung default but could not get used to it. One odd thing about GBoard on my new S22 is that I seem to have much fatter fingers. I am tapping adjacent characters on the keyboard much more than I ever did using it on my old Pixel. Comparing the two side by side, it looks like the Pixel might a little more space between the keys but if so, it is a very small difference. I have learning turned on so maybe it will get better with time.

Lol, is this even a question. The first thing I do with a new Samsung phone is download Swiftkey. There is no better keyboard in my opinion.

After using a Blackberry for soooo many years I just can't use another keyboard now. I'm ruined. I try, I do. I will switch back and forth constantly trying to get used to something else. And I just can't. It's the little things my brain just can't change.

idk how many years it's been since i last used a blackberry, but i miss that physical keyboard every time i type. :(

hi there. glad you're also a Swiftkey admirer/user!
i do the exact same thing: i use Swiftkey all the time for many years now.

the question though, is: is Swiftkey or Gboard better?

may i please ask if you've tried Gboard? thank you.

The one I downloaded is version 4.1904.3.16701 and it works great.
Has the keyboard in this version gotten an overdue update? The last version I had/could find, needed a serious update of emojis and some other small features. I loved the "flick" feature for texting, I haven't used it in so long, I'd probably have to get used to it all over again lol

Thought I would toggle from SwiftKey to Gboard and got this warning:

Attention: Gboard may be able to collect all the text you type, including personal data such as passwords and credit card numbers.

Anyone else get this?

pretty sure Google already knows everything about us.

I guess it could use a few more emojis but it's still good. I honestly just don't want to live without word flick and gesture delete of multiple words, oh and hold for caps. My brain just can't not do them on other keyboards and I get annoyed when it doesn't work..lol I realize at some point it's not going to work at all but until that day I'll keep installing it on new phones.

I installed it the other day, but with the personalization I'm using (I'm assuming it's Hex theming and not just the general dark theme) it was white with white characters.

Swiftkey
Google (on my pixel)
Chrooma
Stock (LG V50)

Find the one that works for you.

For all my previous phones, I've used Gboard. For this new S22 Ultra I thought I would give the Samsung keyboard a shot as I thought I read that it works better with the Spen then Gboard.

I hated it. I found autocorrect a pain and swipe typing not as good as with Gboard.

Anyone else think this, or am I doing something wrong?
Gave it a try and immediately downloaded Gboard

You can still find the BB keyboard APK. I do pay for the entire BB suite but the keyboard is no longer included so you have to download it separately and it works fine.

have a link? i searched real quick when i was on my break at work. amazingly, i did find it in the play store, but it said it wasn't available for my device, did a google search, tried downloading it from 3-4 different sites, but once it went to install, same error, this isn't available for your device.

It's in this thread on the last page. There's also an unlock key that you'll need. It is just for the keyboard, because you can't get that in the Google suite, apparently. I do pay for the BB apps but the keyboard isn't included anymore.

Not sure what version your are using if you need an unlock key to install the BB KVB apk. Any of the versions I have ever installed on Android never needed an unlock key.

Originally, I think it was only available to get via cobalt's manager, unless one had an actual BlackBerry Android Slab. However, later I think all the "patched" apks Cobalt was providing via his "manager app" were also directly available on his file site. I don't remember any of them requiring an unlock key to install. Maybe a password to get into his file site repository, after he was told to cease and desist. However, by then I don't think he really was patching the apks anymore because by then I think BlackBerry had the suite (except the keyboard) available from PlayStore.

If one searches hard through CB, one can still find a few rogue sites I think from where to get the last version of the BlackBerry VKB apk. It used to be easier to find from the CB threads and posts, but sometimes it's hard to find certain posts in there nowadays.
