I think last week it was a rumor, but this week it's straight from Asus' mouth. BGR is reporting on it like it's new too. Fortunately, it appears that Asus has followed up with Engadget and informed them that release is still targeted for 12/19.

This might be very optimistic and wishful thinking on my part but I am hoping that I can purchase one in BestBuy on Monday. The salesman said that IF they get any in to sell on the 19th, they would either come in on UPS either Friday or Monday.

Translation - they don't have a scheduled shipment containing the tablets. The only way they'll get them in is if they come in a surprise drop shipment...
