EDIT - Sorry if the title is misleading. This is to prevent your 4G CONNECTION on your EVO from sleeping, not your EVO 4G ....
From what i understand, the EVO automatically turns off 4G connection after 10 minutes of standby and defaults back to 3G. If you are in a position where you would like to prevent 4G from shutting off please follow these instructions:
1) Call Sprint tech support and get your MSL (six digit number)
2) On your keypad dial ##DATA# (##3282#)
3) Select "Edit Mode"
4) Type your MSL as the password and hit "OK"
5) Select WIMAX
6) Change your "Standby Time" to the value of however many minutes youd like the phone to be able to sleep yet still connected to 4G
7) Press the Menu button
8) Select "Commit Modifications"
9) wait for your phone to reboot
WARNING: I have not had the phone long enough to really give this a test and I can only assume this will drain more battery. This is not really a necessary measure as when 4G shuts off, 3G kicks on so you would still be connected....
