Prevent APP ICON from jumping to Home Page when moving

When I "hold" an APP Icon & attempt to move to another location, it "jumps" onto the Home page, and I have to Remove it & try again,& again.

How to prevent that?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you pressing and holding the app icon in the App Drawer, or are you talking about an app icon that is already on your homescreen?

I may have figured it out?

It happens when moving a APP from the Drawer adjacent to the Home page.

To manually reorder your apps in the App Drawer, tap the 3-dot menu button at the upper right of the App Drawer, then Sort, then Custom Order.

Still does it.

Try moving APP Icon to drawer to the left, it jumps onto the hon=me page.

Don't press and hold for too long without moving the icon. On my Galaxy A32 5G, if I press and hold, and then immediately start dragging it, I'm able to reposition it in the App Drawer.
