Not that 'review preference' matters in sales (the press loved Sense before, and still sales lagged behind others) but IMHO, I do 'sense' that Sense is a much more accepted adaptation than, say, TouchWiz. In my case, I prefer the look of Sense (and I own a Samsung device) but not the overall functionality. With TouchWiz, well... let's just say I'm happy I can use third party launchers from the get-go
A lot of apps came out just for the sole purpose of imitating Sense on other phones (just ask Beautiful Widgets) and I do feel Sense paved the way for better interfaces out there, even with Google's HOLO guidelines.
Oh, and I, too, don't favor "vanilla" Android over these... too bare-bones for my taste.
There is not statistical survey yet, but from my personal observation, reviews from both editors like The Verge, Engedget and users always say good things about the new Sense 6 UI. I personally prefer it more than the vanilla KitKat.
