There is not statistical survey yet, but from my personal observation, reviews from both editors like The Verge, Engedget and users always say good things about the new Sense 6 UI. I personally prefer it more than the vanilla KitKat.

Not that 'review preference' matters in sales (the press loved Sense before, and still sales lagged behind others) but IMHO, I do 'sense' that Sense is a much more accepted adaptation than, say, TouchWiz. In my case, I prefer the look of Sense (and I own a Samsung device) but not the overall functionality. With TouchWiz, well... let's just say I'm happy I can use third party launchers from the get-go A lot of apps came out just for the sole purpose of imitating Sense on other phones (just ask Beautiful Widgets) and I do feel Sense paved the way for better interfaces out there, even with Google's HOLO guidelines.

Oh, and I, too, don't favor "vanilla" Android over these... too bare-bones for my taste.

Some people also tend to forget past incidents that sour people's perceptions.

As I said before on here. I personally witness a company returning 1000 HTC Thunderbolts.

Now imagine the perception those employees as potential future buyers.

I sure didn't want a HTC phone because of that and even after my wife got one (M7) and it improved my perception of the quality of their product, it still makes me hesitant in switching over to a M8 for myself.

I just had an Acer 27 inch ips monitor go out on me after 6 months. Even though it is covered under warranty, I probably will never buy another Acer monitor again.

Apple is going downhill in a big way IMO.. wouldn't be surprised if HTC takes their spot in the smartphone war, especially with rumors of an HTC built Nexus 8 tablet. This forum has already proved that lots of people are moving away from Apple because it's just boring now.

Oh, and yippie for Samsung on their sales. :/

True, though another way to look at it is that others went forward while Apple stayed the same. They stopped doing what Apple was known for (smart, new, exciting) and let companies like HTC best them in that aspect. They're surviving on a rep and fan loyalty but it's beginning to wane.

Samsung outsold HTC four times last year: HTC One sales revealed at 5 million within 2 months, while Galaxy S4 got 20 million

Lmbo! Your question is akin to asking if anyone should expect the Ford F-150 to continue outselling the Toyota Tundra. However, in my miserable opinion, this scenario of Samsung's flagship S-series outselling HTC's flagship device will never end. It's not possible for that to change. Given the manufacturing process dedicated to producing the one, HTC would have a hard time producing the same volume of devices that Samsung can with the Galaxy S flagship. Even if all things were equal with regards to having the same amount of consumer interest, I think Samsung would be able to meet the consumer demand better than HTC. With the M7, HTC had a hard enough time keeping the component supply chain input even with its manufacturing output. That was a train wreck and a half.

Also, I hate to be the voice of reason, but since when does HTC release or announce the sales numbers for their devices? Sadly these "numbers" come from unnamed sources ....kkkkkkkkk

But why is the OP so concerned about it?
Windows PC outsold McIntosh by I don't know how many times and Steve Jobs was ousted from his post at Apple until he made a comeback later (with iPhone?). Was Windows PC good, or any closer to McIntosh back then? Unless you're really too ignorant to not know the answer.

In my book, I'm not sure, it depends on the user, from my perspective, I like a bigger screen, so I would give the gs4 preference, but I like iOS and wasn't impressed by the gs4 because it wasn't much better than the gs3

It's going to happen again this year with the S5 and M8. Probably by a wider margin. Doesn't take anything away from how great the M8 is.
