Pricing confusion

I'm looking into getting an Evo off contract soon. I love the white one just announced through best buy but when browsing, I noticed that their retail price is around 600 whereas the retail on sprint is 450. What's the reason for this? Do the phone companies always knock a bit off retail if you buy it through them? Thought I knew a decent amount about all this, but I'm a little confused...

You can buy it on Ebay for $440-$455 around there brand new.

i think best buy raises the price so the final price is more because they charge the retail price for taxes... thats how i feel anyways
